Why You Should Be Using Fabric Softener To Clean Your Walls
When it comes to getting your home spotless, cleaning walls doesn't often make it onto the list. When you're busy mopping up floors and chasing away dust, there isn't much energy at the end of the day to then wipe down your walls. But when you think about it, there is plenty of dust and grime stuck to these surfaces. Whether it's the grease from the stove sticking to the walls in the kitchen, the hallway walls scribbled with crayons by little ones, or just general scuff marks clinging to living room walls, there are all sorts of smears, marks, and scuffs that need a good scrubbing. But luckily for us, there is a simple cleaning hack that will make the chore both easy and cost-effective.
When it comes to cleaning walls, a lot of people reach for Mr. Clean Magic Erasers or generic melamine sponges to buff away the marks. But that can eat away at your budget and creates unnecessary waste. Instead, you can use a homemade remedy that only requires something already available in your laundry room.
Use this fabric softener hack to scrub your walls clean
When it comes to cleaning hacks, the most tried-and-true ones are those passed down by our parents and grandparents. At least that's what one TikTok cleaning expert found. In a viral video, user AllisonsCleanin shares that she employs a DIY wall cleaning solution that was originally used by her grandmother. Calling it "an old housekeeper secret," Allison reveals that she mixes one part fabric softener with one part water to create a special wall cleaning agent. She then mixes it inside a spray bottle and uses a microfiber cloth to wipe away and marks or stains on her walls or baseboards. Allison says the solution works great on any kind of paint finish, and it doesn't leave shine or streaks on your walls like other name brand solutions do. The spray will also scent your room with whatever softener you are using. And you can tinker with the scent intensity by either using less fabric softener with your water or using an unscented softener.
Not only will this wall-cleaning tip leave your walls and doors spotless, but it will add a fresh scent to your room that will make your house feel freshly cleaned all week long.
