The Dishwasher Hack You've Been Missing Your Whole Life
Dishwashers are like the MVPs of the kitchen. Anyone who moves into an apartment or house without a dishwasher immediately senses the loss. Sure, a dishwasher might have its drawbacks, like occasionally producing spotty dishes or having unclear directions on how to properly load the dishwasher in the first place. But the appliance has more positives than negatives. Cleaning up after meals takes twice as long without a dishwasher since you have to tackle a whole stack of dirty dishes, pots, and pans by hand.
Although dishwashers make life so much easier, that doesn't mean they don't come with their annoyances. One such annoyance is that some pans and dishes are too tall or bulky to fit into the dishwasher. There's nothing more aggravating than realizing one of the casserole dishes you loaded is preventing you from closing the door. You're then forced to take it out of the dishwasher and hand-wash it in the sink — or are you? Not if you use this one handy dishwasher drawer hack that creates more room for taller items.
The dishwasher hack that creates more space
If you need more space to load in a bulky pot or tray, then use this viral TikTok dishwasher hack. TikTok user @frunpalandet86 posted a video on how to create more space in the appliance by either lowering or raising the top rolling tray. In the clip, a wine glass was placed into the top tray that is often earmarked for delicate dinnerware and glassware, but the long stem blocked the tray from fully closing. To remedy that dishwasher dilemma, the user pressed down on two often-overlooked levers on either side of the tray, which lowered the drawer down a few inches, making just enough room for the stem.
The opposite can be done to make room for bulkier pots and pans on the bottom tray. You can raise your top drawer back into its highest position to make space for a large item, letting you sneak in more dishes. Talk about a simple yet life-changing hack.
