From Toilet Paper To Towels: 15 Costco Kirkland Paper Products, Ranked Worst To Best
Paper products are an important staple in any household. We use them for cleaning, convenience, and, most importantly, self-care. But buying all that toilet paper, tissues, and paper towels can get expensive, and sometimes you're left with less-than-desirable results. Costco claims to have a solution that provides both affordable and quality paper products for its customers. Costco claims that Kirkland Signature products are more than just a house brand, but could it be true? Customer reviews present mixed opinions, warning new buyers away from baby products but praising paper products that are used in the kitchen.
There are plenty of Kirkland products that are worth buying and some that aren't. With so many options, including clothing, groceries, household products, and more, it's hard to know where to start. Luckily, we have done the research for you. We even found several Kirkland brand cleaning products that are worth the money. But what about the paper products? After an extensive search, we found various paper products that Costco sells under the Kirkland brand and ranked them from worst to best according to reviews. The worst products, by far, are the diapers, with all three size options receiving less than three stars from hundreds of reviews. The best products seem to be found in the kitchen, with paper towels and parchment paper ranking among the top products from thousands of reviews.
Kirkland Signature Diapers
The Kirkland Signature Diapers in Size 1, the Kirkland Signature Diapers in Size 2, and the Kirkland Signature Diapers in Sizes 3 to 6 are the worst-reviewed paper products sold at Costco, with a rating of a little over 2 stars across more than 3,000 reviews. Customers warn buyers that the new disposable diapers are a thinner design than past products. One helpful review explained, "Apparently, Costco changed their manufacturer for diapers, and the new ones are terrible. Costco sadly went from having the best diapers on the market to hands down the worst. My son pees through them regularly."
Kirkland Signature Daily Makeup Remover Towelettes
While customers used to like the Kirkland Signature Makeup Remover Towelettes, recent changes have led to more negative reviews, leaving the product with a 3.5-star rating out of 998 reviews. Customers are generally unhappy with changes to the product. One customer said, "I've been using these for years ... Then the packaging changed (I thought it was just packaging), but it is a totally different product. These are awful! The cloth is different; they just feel totally different. The original ones were tingly and refreshing. The replacement ones are kind of slimy."
Kirkland Signature Premoistened Flushable Wipes, Fragrance Free
The reviews on the Kirkland Signature Premoistened Flushable Wipes are generally positive. The wipes are among the few paper products that received moderately mixed reviews, with a rating of 4.2 stars from 890 customers. While most people like the wipes themselves, they typically complain about the package design. One reviewer said, "My latest purchase had a redesigned packet closure. It does not stay closed, which can lead to the sheets drying out ... The product is very good, but the packaging is not."
Kirkland Signature Extra-Large Absorbent Pads
The Kirkland Signature Extra-Large Absorbent Pads are Kirkland's version of puppy pads, with a 4.5-star rating across 600 reviews. While customers are generally happy with them, there are some concerns about changes to the product. One recent negative review said, "The revamp of the product has now made it very poor quality. I used to buy four to six boxes at a time because they were the best on the market... The new revamped product is thinner, and liquid, urine, etc., runs off the edges and is not contained like the old ones."
Kirkland Signature Fabric Softener Sheets
The Kirkland Signature Fabric Softener Sheets generally receive positive feedback, but may not be suitable for all customers. With a 4.6-star rating from over 400 reviews, some customers have issues with the sheets getting stuck in the dryer vent or leaving residue on clothing. One customer said, "I just started using them and thought I liked them at first until I noticed a lot of my clothes were all getting grease-type stains on them ... Not only did these stain my clothes, but I found that I had multiple dryer sheets stuck to the vent inside of my dryer."
Kirkland Signature Bath Tissue, 2-Ply
The Kirkland Signature Bath Tissue has similar reviews to many of the other Kirkland products. With 4.6 stars from 16,773 reviews, customers are generally happy, but some have noticed a change in quality. One customer wrote, "We have bought Kirkland toilet paper for several years, and with our most recent purchase, it is clear that Kirkland has changed their manufacturer for toilet paper. This new toilet paper is absolute garbage. The old TP was soft and strong. It was my favorite! This new TP — I would compare it to wiping with newspaper!"
Kirkland Signature Double-Sided Counter Roll Gift Wrap

Kirkland Signature Facial Tissues
Kirkland Signature Facial Tissue is generally seen as a quality product with a 4.7-star rating from almost 2000 reviews. However, recent reviews show that customers are unhappy with the new packaging. Many reviewers agreed that the tissues were of excellent quality, but they were a challenge to wrestle from the box. One customer said, "I would consider Kirkland Signature Facial Tissue a five-star product if they (or their manufacturer) could figure out how to keep their tissue boxes sealed."
Kirkland Signature Ultra Soft Bath Tissue, 2-Ply
The Kirkland Signature Ultra Soft Premium Bath Tissue has received more positive reviews than the regular bath tissue, with a 4.7-star rating from 2580 reviews. Most reviews are extremely positive, praising the product for its quality, but a few have mentioned issues with packaging and shipping costs after recent changes. A customer who liked the quality said, "I ordered it online ... That's fine, except for the wasteful cardboard packaging involved in shipping. Because shipping has always (in my experience) been free for this product, I've never balked at it. But this time, shipping was no longer free."
Kirkland Signature Double-Sided Everyday Gift Wrap
Kirkland Signature's Double-Sided Everyday Gift Wrap is among the highest-rated paper products sold by the brand at Costco, with a rating of 4.8 stars from 86 reviews. There is only a single 1-star rating because the customer did not like the size of the roll. Otherwise, customers seem generally happy with their purchase, with one customer saying, "I received a pleasant surprise. This is really nice, heavy-quality paper with very colorful designs. The designs are good for any occasion."
Kirkland Signature Napkins, 1-Ply
Customers are usually happy with the quality of the Kirkland Signature Napkins, giving it a 4.8-star rating from 919 reviews. The majority of the reviews are either 5 or 4 stars with minimal complaints. There were very few 1-star reviews, most of which were disappointed in the size and thickness. One negative review said, "These are incredibly thin napkins. I was trying to get away from using so many paper towels, but I'm not sure I'll continue to buy something so thin and flimsy."
Kirkland Signature Baby Wipes Fragrance Free
Unlike the Kirkland Signature Diapers, customers love the Kirkland Signature Baby Wipes Fragrance Free, with 4.8 stars from 12,840 reviews. Most positive reviews simply praise the wipes for being a great product for the price. However, some reviews mention having issues with shipping and packaging as well as rashes in sensitive individuals. On the positive side, one customer said, "The best in the market." On the negative side, another customer said, "I don't know why or if you changed the ingredients, but this gives my son the worst rashes."
Kirkland Signature Paper Towels, 2-Ply
Many customers rave about the quality of the Kirkland Signature Paper Towels, giving them a 4.8-star rating out of 36,321 reviews. However, if you are concerned about sustainability, you may want to look into the brand name behind Costco's Kirkland paper towels before becoming a loyal product buyer. One neutral review said, "I have been using these paper towels for about eight years. They have always been fantastic and consistent... [Over] the last year, they have changed a few times, and the quality has gone down."
Kirkland Signature Hanukkah Double-Sided Wrapping Paper.
The Kirkland Signature Hanukkah Double-Sided Wrapping Paper has no negative reviews to date, with only a total rating of 4.9 stars from 25 reviews. Customers love the availability of the Hanukkah-themed paper combined with the quality. One customer said, "It's very difficult to find Hanukkah items that are available and not kitschy. Each year, Costco carries Hanukkah wrapping paper when it's almost impossible to find, and I always buy it. Don't hesitate; it sells out."
Kirkland Signature Non-Stick Parchment Paper Rolls
Finally, the top-rated paper product at Costco is the Kirkland Signature Non-Stick Parchment Paper Rolls with a rating of 4.9 stars from 1285 reviews. Aside from a small selection of 1-star reviews from customers who baked their parchment paper into their goodies, customers are raving about the quality of this product. The other major complaint is that the product is bleached. Otherwise, customers say the product performs just as well as, or better than, competing brands. One customer said, "Great parchment paper doesn't stick. I used it in the slow cooker and oven."
How we ranked Costco Kirkland paper products to find the worst and the best
In order to determine the best and the worst Kirkland paper products sold at Costco, we started by scouring the Kirkland brand products for all paper products. After reviewing every product currently listed for sale, we identified which ones were made of paper or natural wood pulp and plant-based material that are used in paper products. Through this search, we identified various products, including diapers, wipes, wrapping paper, bath and face tissue, paper towels, and parchment paper.
From there, we analyzed the reviews from each product to determine which ones were highest rated by customers and which ones were lowest rated. For ranking purposes, we placed products with more reviews and the same rating higher in the ranking list than products with fewer reviews. We also excluded products that had fewer than 10 reviews from the complete ranking, as they did not have a large enough customer following to get an accurate idea of the product's quality.
