Turn Thrifted Glass Jars And Bottles Into The Cutest Candle Decor
If you're a frequent thrift store shopper, you know that there is no shortage of glassware in second-hand shops. You may even have a collection of these pieces yourself, given their versatility. Items like glass jars and bottles, for example, can be used for all sorts of chic DIY pieces you can use to decorate your home on a budget.
One project you're going to want to try involves turning thrifted glass jars or bottles into the cutest candle décor. You can complete this DIY candle holder in just a few shockingly easy steps. Simply place some dried flowers inside of the glass jar or bottle and slide one of the VINCIGANT Candle Holders on top of the opening. Add a candlestick on top of the candle holder when you're done.
Keep in mind that the aforementioned candle holders are only compatible with ring-neck bottles or jars. If you do not already have one of these glassware pieces on hand, you may want to take a trip to your local thrift store to stock up. Otherwise, if you have a wide-mouth jar you'd like to use instead, try decorating the outside of the jar and placing a tealight candle inside as an alternative. Just make sure that the jar is made of heat-resistant tempered glass for this craft, as the candle flame will flicker quite close to the glass. Canning jars are a great alternative if you don't have any tempered glass around.
Build and customize your floral candle holder
Feel free to further customize your gorgeous DIY candle holder to really make it your own. For the candle holder made from a ring-neck bottle (as shown above), you may want to hot glue a few small dried or faux flowers to the outside of the glass after placing your flowers inside. This would create a fascinating two-layer effect. Alternatively, for a different look, you could wrap patterned transparent window film around the glass bottle, such as the NIVIY Window Film. If you'd like to make the glass opaque instead, simply coat it with spray paint.
When decorating the alternative wide-mouth jars holding tealight candles, there are also a few different options. For example, you could brush a clear, glass-friendly glue onto the outside of the glass and lay flower heads down flat onto it. Seal the flowers in place by following up with a final layer of glue. Consider purchasing a set of the BIHRTC Dried Flowers to use for this purpose.
Alternatively, you could create a window on the glass and then spray paint around it so that only the candle is visible from the outside. To do this, simply apply painter's tape to the jar in the shape you'd like the window to be. Next, spray paint the jar using a color of your choice. After the paint dries, you can pull the tape off to reveal a window that will allow candle light to shine through.
