Is Ryobi's Link Wall Storage Kit Worth It? Here's What Reviews Say

You can use the various accessories like hooks, bins, and shelves to store almost any item you'd keep in a garage. These components slide easily onto rails attached securely to your wall, and can be moved, mixed, and matched for best use of available space. Although the system seems like a useful storage option, you may want some reassurances before you spend money on it. Most customer reviewers give the Ryobi Link storage kit high marks. At Home Depot's website, 84% of customers would recommend the product to others. Only 4% of the Home Depot customer reviewers gave it a 1-star rating. YouTube reviewers olivegrey avenue gave it perfect 10-out-of-10 scores for aesthetics and modularity in the design. "This is really handy," they comment. "I love having everything all together. ... This place was a mess before we cleaned it up, so it made it like 1,000 times better."

One customer reviewer at Home Depot says the system holds a significant amount of weight and was easy to install. "It's holding like 150 pounds of tools. These are nicely made, reasonably priced, and very flexible in how they work." Another reviewer at the Ryobi website started by hanging the rails on one side of the garage before later hanging rails on additional walls for more storage. "I've even used it as a backsplash on the middle section of my workbench. I can't get enough of it; great organizational system!"

YouTube reviewer Shop Tool Reviews appreciates the build quality of the components in the Ryobi storage system, including using metal shelves that are going to last. "It's a great way for you to get organized. ... When you have a storage solution that has a lot of the answers already and it's modular where you can add to it as you need it, I think that's a great idea."

Most poor customer reviews at Home Depot's website mentioned disappointment in the quality of the mounting screws that shipped with the kit. Some kits include #10 screws measuring 2 inches in length along with drywall anchors. However, one Home Depot customer reviewer's kit did not ship with any screws or drywall anchors at all, leading to a lengthy service call that did not have a satisfactory result. Another Home Depot customer reviewer received mounting hardware with the kit, but the quality of the materials was poor. The "mounting hardware is junk. ... The screws would jam, and the heads would strip. I ended up using some deck screws I had of the same size with a star drive head." The reviewer does state that once that issue was solved, "everything was easy."

YouTube reviewer Tool Review Zone (TRZ) liked the results with the Ryobi Link wall storage kit. However, he notes the cost dissuade some people, convincing them to consider DIY projects that maximize garage storage space instead. "I will tell you it's not the cheapest system," TRZ says. "[If] you go with pegboard, it's a lot cheaper. That said, you get what you pay for."

Some people may not like the lime green color scheme found across the Ryobi tool brand. The green is prominent on most parts of the wall storage kit, too. However, Tool Review Zone says disliking the lime green color is not a good reason to skip this storage kit. "There's a lot of green on here. ... [If] you're into a different [tool brand] platform, paint it red, paint it yellow, do whatever you want to do. You don't have to keep it green."
