Transform A Pool Noodle Into The Cutest Statement Décor Piece With An Easy DIY

Choosing a wall décor piece always sounds easy until you're several hours deep in online browsing and everything either looks the same or costs a fortune. You want something unique and eye-catching that reflects your style, but that doesn't stand out so much it clashes with everything else. Bow wall pieces are a fun and trendy choice that may have caught your eye. Custom large wall bows can cost well over $100, though. Luckily, DIYing a bow statement piece is extremely affordable and fairly simple using a fun pool noodle hack. All you need, other than your two pool noodles, is some wire, wire cutters, Command strips, and faux flowers.

This DIY wall décor piece is perfect as the main focal point of a room or for something meant to blend seamlessly with your home, and there are so many ways to customize it. When you're finished with your floral bow wall piece, you might look for other ways to apply the concept. That's how fun and easy this project is.

How to make a pool noodle floral bow for your wall

@merryvibesonly on TikTok demonstrates a fun way to make a bow statement piece. Start by cutting each of your pool noodles in half. Then, measure and cut two wire pieces to be several inches longer than your pool noodle halves. Thread one wire piece into the center of one of the halves and twist it together at both ends to create a teardrop shape. Repeat this step with a second pool noodle half. Take the wire ends of both of your teardrops and twist them closely together to form the top of your bow. Now, place Command strips onto the back of both sides of the bow top in a few places and make sure the Command strips are firmly pressed against your wall where you want the piece to hang. Put Command strips onto one side of each remaining pool noodle half and position them on your wall to look like bow tails.

Now you should have what looks like a giant pool noodle bow on your wall. To decorate it, cut your faux flowers short and arrange them into your pool noodles, covering every bit of exposed noodle. When you are finished, you should have a gorgeous floral décor piece.

Upgrading and customizing your pool noodle statement piece

This DIY is so cute as-is, but there are other fun things you can do to take it to the next level. Weaving tiny battery-powered LED string lights through the flowers can add a sparkly look to your new statement piece. You can also make smaller accent bows and place them on both sides of the large bow. For the smaller bows, use the same steps, but cut the pool noodles and wires shorter. You might want to choose pool noodles with a smaller diameter to ensure they are able to bend to make smaller-sized bows. This also helps make sure the flowers aren't crowding each other, covering the centers of the bow top.

This is also a highly customizable décor piece. One way to do this is to place new faux flowers for each season. You can place fall leaves and flowers with orange and red hues for a pretty autumn wall decoration while faux holly berries and poinsettias would be perfect for winter. For a springtime pool noodle piece, you can place pastel-colored flowers. This floral wall piece is also great for budget weddings, birthday parties, and other special occasions. A way to beautifully accent a wedding cake with your bow flower, for example, is to decorate with complementary colors. Then, hang the bows evenly spaced around the reception venue. There's also no need to have a bow shape if that's not your thing.
