There are pros and cons to shopping for organic soil at both retailers, but both stores contain hidden gems that some gardeners think is worth adding to your shopping list. 

Home Depot sells several brands of organic gardening soil from big names like Miracle Gro to more niche brands like Black Kow. Kellog Garden Organics' All Natural Garden Soil is one product you won't find on the shelves at Walmart, yet is among one of Home Depot's highest rated organic soils. It's priced at just $4.24 per cubic foot and has a glowing rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars online. One reviewer raved, "This is a great deal! Cheap, very good, and I got blossoms on my strawberries already! Good composition, right moisture, and really good dirt! I got 3 bags, no regrets!"

Black Kow Organic Gardening Soil is another top-rated product you can find at Home Depot but not Walmart. It's a little pricier at $7.47 per cubic foot, but happy customers say it's nutrient rich and high quality. "I love the Black Kow products! The brand Espoma's Organic Garden Soil has an almost flawless 4.9 out of 5 stars rating on Walmart's website. One buyer called it "[the] best potting/garden soil I have found" and shared, "It's worth the extra money." Meanwhile, Home Depot does not currently carry this product online. 

However, some of the more common organic soils Walmart carries are more expensive than their competitor's prices.
