The Genius DIY That Turns A Dollar Tree Cutting Board Into Gorgeous Hanging Storage

Counter space is a valuable asset in our homes. While we wish we could place every little item on these surfaces, the smallest metal objects like tweezers or nail clippers seem to go missing when we need them most. It's so frustrating having to search everywhere, only to find yourself wandering back to the store to pick up a new one. That won't happen to you anymore because there's a genius DIY that turns a Dollar Tree cutting board into gorgeous hanging storage for all your small metal items.

Just like you can use a Dollar Tree hack to free up cabinet space, you can use dollar store cutting boards to declutter your countertops. And luckily, this hack doesn't take much effort because all you have to do is drill holes and add magnets to the cutting board for clever hanging storage. First, you'll need to head over to your local Dollar Tree and grab a bamboo cutting board, five magnets, and either twine, ribbon, or rope. To complete this project, you'll need a pencil for marking, super glue, hot glue, and a drill with a Forstner bit.

How to turn Dollar Tree cutting boards into hanging storage

Once you have your supplies, it's time for the fun part. Take your cutting board and mark a dot on each corner on the board a few inches from the edge. You will also add one mark in the middle. With your drill, create a hole with your Forstner bit on each marking, but remember not to go all the way through the board. After you have your holes, place super glue into each hole and set the magnet down on top. Let it dry for about 30 minutes. You may be tempted to us hot glue for a faster DIY, but the heat from the glue may decrease the strength of your magnets, making it harder to hold heftier metal objects.

After the glue dries, you will take your ribbon, twine, or rope and tie a decorative bow. Place your board horizontally and hot glue each end of the bow on the top two corners. Stick to the hot glue as the adhesive for fabric items since super glue will eventually crack if your material bends, and may bleed through. Once your glue is dried, you can hang up your clever hanging storage next to your other bathroom shelving to maximize your space. Don't like it in your bathroom? No problem — place it near your entryway, making it your next magnetic key holder. Or, store small utensils on it, as this is a Dollar Tree storage DIY that will make the most of the space in your kitchen.
