Got a few spare glass jars taking up kitchen space? You can repurpose those glass jars around the home to create stunning decor. Although the jar may have once contained pasta sauce or pickles, you can transform it into a surprisingly stunning piece to display within your living space. One simple and affordable glass jar decor DIY worth trying out is a rustic vase to hold greenery or flowers. All you have to do is cut the center of the Dollar Tree's Adhesive Wall Tile out, glue it to the jar, and paint over it using a color of your choice.

You can give your decorative vase a rustic look by painting the jar white and brushing a bit of brown paint over the textured tile glued to the center. You also have the option to glue some of the Natural Jute Cord from Dollar Tree around the top of the jar and use it to add a bow to the middle as well. You can customize your glassware turned trendy DIY vase however you like. For example, you could glue a fun decal in the center, such as one of the Laser Kraft Board Stickers from Dollar Tree. Rather than gluing jute cord around the jar, try decorative string or rope in a bright color to add a pop of personality. Once you gather all of your desired materials, you can decorate your glass jar to create a stunning rustic vase in just a few steps.

Transform a plain glass jar in just a few steps

To upcycle your old glass jar into a decorative vintage-style vase, start out by cutting the design out of the center of one of Dollar Tree's Adhesive Wall Tiles. Next, you'll need to give that piece of plastic tile something to stick onto. One option is to coat masking tape with hot glue and sticking the tile onto it. Or you could simply glue the tile in place with super glue and skip out on using the tape. Super glue adheres plastic directly to glass. Remember you'll have to hold the piece of tile in place until it dries.

After gluing the tile in place, coat the jar in a few layers of paint. To make the process easier, apply spray paint rather than brushing on acrylic paint. The Rust-Oleum Chalked Spray Paint is a great option. Select white or opt for a bolder color if you prefer. When that dries, you can dry brush some brown or brass highlight paint to give the vase a worn look. You could also brush on a brighter color or even a metallic paint shade. Once the paint dries, you can move on to adding detailing such as ribbon and jute cord as shown in the video. Glue a decal or cutout in the center as a finishing touch.
