DIY Adorable Mini Birdhouse Plant Stakes With A Creative Toilet Paper Upcycling Hack

Plant stakes allow you to add fun touches of personality to the potted plants displayed in your home. You can make this plant decor even more true to you and your design preferences by making them yourself. As you may have guessed, the process is super easy. There's plenty of simple ways to create DIY plant stakes, however, an adorable mini birdhouse is arguably the best choice for those looking to embrace whimsy. To build your faux birdhouse, you'll need to cut a toilet paper roll in half, poke a hole in the center of it so that it resembles an entrance, and cover the roll in bark and faux moss.

To top it all off, create a roof for your birdhouse plant stake with a piece of cardboard. The materials you need to pull this off are all super affordable (and some of them are even free), so this is a budget-friendly alternative to those store-bought plant stakes that aren't even half as cute. In addition to an empty toilet paper roll, all you'll need is bark gathered from trees in your yard or neighborhood, faux moss, a small piece of cardboard, and a hot glue gun. Who knew that you could upcycle an empty toilet paper roll into something so charming?

Create your birdhouse plant stake with materials you already own

To build your birdhouse plant stake, start out by cutting your empty toilet paper roll in half. Next, poke a hole in the center. You can then move on to covering the toilet paper roll by hot gluing small pieces of tree bark all over it. If you are unable to get your hands on real tree bark, you could cut the Faux Brown Bark sold by The Christmas Tree Hugger Store into pieces and use it instead. When you're done, create a roof for your birdhouse by cutting a separate piece of cardboard into a small rectangle and folding it in half. You can then use hot glue to attach it to the top of your birdhouse.

At this point, you can personalize your birdhouse however you'd like. Glue on as much of the KARRYHOME Fake Moss or any other faux moss as you want. Although no little plastic birds were used in the video above, you could add one to your DIY planter stake to give it more life. The Unittype Miniature Bird Figurines would make an adorable addition. You could glue one to the roof of the birdhouse or even stick one right onto your plant's soil. When you're done decorating your birdhouse to your liking, hot glue a wooden dowel or twig to the roof through the opening at the bottom. You can then slide your new plant stake right into your plant soil.
