Create An Adorable, Budget-Friendly Easter Wreath Using Unexpected Dollar Tree Finds

As the days grow longer and the crocuses pop up, the holiday aisles at the grocery store become packed with pastel baskets and candy galore. Get your home into the Easter spirit with an affordable and fun springtime wreath made mainly from budget bounty. To make this adorable home decor DIY with Dollar Tree items, the most important elements are a pool noodle, faux flowers, and two Essentials Flexible Dusters coated in hairspray. The last products may be unexpected, but they are the icing on the cake for this sweet-as-candy door decor.

Tinted with a stripe of pink, fluffy white feather dusters become bunny ears to top off a pool noodle wreath studded with flowers. Hit up your local Dollar Tree for a pool noodle and the springiest fabric flowers: tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and pansies. If you can't locate these quintessential springtime blossoms, any pastel blooms will do. Also pick out a roll of ribbon in a color and/or pattern that complements the flowers.

For an extra sturdy wreath, purchase a wire wreath frame. However, with the right steps, a pool noodle stands alone as a wreath form. If you go the wire frame route, also pick up some pipe cleaners. Buy a can of hairspray, pink spray paint, a bag of cotton balls, craft glue, and bamboo skewers as well. Try this simple trick to make your own spray paint with a bottle of acrylic paint. Just mix equal parts of paint and airbrush medium in a spray bottle. Give the spray a few practice squirts before using.

Build a blooming bunny

Piece together one of these Easter delights to get your front porch ready for spring. Prep your wreath forms first; bend pipe cleaners in half, and twist them around various points on the wire frame. Curve the pool noodle into a circle, and attach it to the wreath with the pipe cleaners. To use just a noodle, bend it into a ring, and secure the shape with heavy tape. Next, trim excess stems from the flowers and poke them into the pool noodle. Distribute each color and type of flower evenly around the wreath. You could also glue on Easter eggs or bows for additional interest.

To make the bunny ears, break the plastic handles off the feather dusters, turn them upside down, spray them liberally with hairspray, and smooth the fibers toward the tip. Next, snip or break off 4 or 5 inches of two skewers. Tie up a bow about 5 inches wide. Glue one skewer to the back of the bow. Use glue to hold a handful of cotton balls together on the second skewer, or use one giant cotton ball, for the bunny tail.

One at a time, hold the feather dusters upside down, and spray one streak of pink paint lengthwise on the duster. Leave a few inches of margin between the streak and both ends of the duster. Once dry, slide the wire bases of the feather duster ears into the top edge of your wreath. On the inner ring of the wreath, right between the ears, slip in the bow skewer. On the opposite side of the inner ring, slip in the cottontail. And you're done!
