Upcycle Toilet Paper Tubes Into A Crafty Kitchen Utensil Holder
Next time you finish a roll of toilet paper, don't throw away your empty toilet paper roll. These versatile little pieces of cardboard make for great eco-friendly and easy DIY projects. There are many ways to turn toilet paper rolls into stylish home decor instead of throwing them away, and one easy DIY is to turn your TP tubes into a utensil holder. The idea is to cover six toilet paper rolls with decorative fabric and glue them on a round DIY base. With some added decorations, they'll turn into a nice DIY utensil holder.
This works well for an outdoor gathering like a picnic or garden party, where you need lots of single-use cutlery to be available. Use the different toilet paper rolls to keep forks, spoons, and knives all neatly separate. What's more, it's an easy and affordable DIY that doesn't require a lot of supplies. Gather up empty toilet paper tubes and easily make several more before sprinkling them on a table or throughout the dining space. Who knew toilet paper rolls could become such creative home organization DIYs?
To create one utensil holder, you will need six empty toilet paper rolls. For the base, grab some cardboard and scissors to create circles. Finally, choose some lightweight decorative paper, napkin paper, or fabric to cover the rolls. You can use some decorative napkins or some colored mesh, like Timgle easter mesh ribbons.
How to DIY a utensil holder with toilet paper rolls
Make sure that there is no leftover toilet paper still sticking to the cardboard and that they're still in a nice cylinder shape. Then cover these rolls with the paper or fabric of your choice. Cut sections that are the right length and height to cover the whole roll without too much excess. To do this, you can use mesh or fabric and some hot glue. You can also use a decoupage method to repurpose some decorative paper napkins using Mod Podge glue. You can be creative here, and match the theme of your event. Gender reveal garden party? Use pink and blue napkins. An easter brunch? Pick some floral patterns.
The next step is to create a base. Cut two circles of cardboard the size of a CD. If you have a CD on hand, glue two pieces of cardboard to it, one on each side, as this can help add weight to the base. If you'd like to just use cardboard, that works too, but beware that your DIY will be lightweight and could more easily tip over. Cover the base with some fabric or tissue paper to match the theme, and use hot glue to attach all of the toilet paper rolls to it in a circle.
To go even further and really transform your DIY, grab some decorations and glue them at the seam where the toilet paper rolls meet. For example, some fake flowers like some Serra Flora Artificial Flowers can nicely help disguise the toilet paper rolls and make them look more festive.
