From DIY spring decor to creative solutions for hand towel storage, there isn't much you can't make using Dollar Tree items. That's why, for many people, it's the go-to store for creating practical and stylish hacks on a budget. There is one specific Dollar Tree item that has become popular for repurposing — the wire napkin holder.
There are so many ways to repurpose a Dollar Tree napkin holder. Did you know, though, that they can be upcycled into kitchen utensil holders? That's right. With a single metal napkin holder, you can create an easy-to-set-up and stylish place to store your cooking utensils. This Dollar Tree hack is super simple, and the end result is a kitchen utensil holder that is nice on the eyes and also very unique. Instead of standing on the counter, like many other kitchen utensil holders, this one actually hangs from Command hooks with the base of the napkin holder against the wall.
How to make a utensil holder from a Dollar Tree napkin holder
To start this project, you need to choose where you want the utensil holder. You might find that hanging it within arm's reach of your stove is a good place. This will allow you to access your utensils when you need them most. It's a good idea to hold the napkin holder up to the wall and practice placing and removing a few different utensils to make sure you've found a good spot. Remember to keep cabinet clearance in mind since you need to be able to pull your kitchen utensils upward in order to remove them from your new holder.
When you've found the perfect spot, measure the base of the napkin holder from where the horizontal bar meets the inside of the outer semicircle. Then, mark where the Command hooks will be placed. Once you've made sure your Command strips are pressed firmly on the wall, simply turn your napkin holder on its side and hang it on the hooks. If you have cooking utensils with holes at the ends, you could add on some S-hooks for those items. Also, if you like to have on hand more cooking utensils than will fit in this holder, get a second napkin holder and zip-tie them together at the bottoms. You'll hang this new, larger utensil holder against the wall on its side and will need to place the Command hooks accordingly.
