Keep Coffee And Tea Mug Clutter At Bay With A Cool Dollar Tree Organization DIY

Tea and coffee mugs take up more room in your cabinets than any other dishware. They don't often stack neatly like plates, they are fatter than glasses, and the fact that they don't need to match means you constantly get them as gifts or souvenirs. That's why coffee mug storage ideas are always in high demand. Fortunately, you can DIY a coffee and tea mug organizer that looks great, has room for various coffee paraphernalia, and doesn't require the work of a master craftsman. Better yet, it won't cost much — it's made almost entirely from Dollar Tree finds. 

This DIY is a creative way to use pegboards and hooks as decorative mug storage to liven up your coffee station and free up much-needed cabinet space. Pegboards and accessories can get pricey, but Dollar Tree pegboards are only $1.25 a piece, allowing you to use as many pegboards as you wish for this easy Dollar Tree storage hack. With a sturdy wood backing and a little paint, these plastic boards are transformed into cute kitchen decor. 

For this project, you can use either the Jot Rectangular Pegboards (9.7x5 inches) or the Jot Square Pegboards (8.75x8.75 inches), arranged to look like one board. The key is finding (or making) a wooden board in the correct size to go underneath your pegboard display. Once assembled, paint the pegboards and underlying board to match your kitchen's color scheme. Next, attach the pegboards to the board. You can screw the boards together, or attach them using Jot Adhesive Rinks ($1.25 for a 4-pack). These rinks click into the back of the boards and make them easier to mount. They come with adhesive backing and user reviews suggest it is very strong. However, to guarantee no broken mugs, you can use an even stronger glue such as E6000 Adhesive for extra support.  

Once you've allowed proper drying time, insert pegboard hooks and hang your mugs. You can also purchase a pegboard cup or shelf from Dollar Tree to store spoons, sugar packets, coffee pods, and more. If you have trouble finding the Jot brand accessories, you can mix and match with other brands that fit the standard ¼ inch holes.
