Upcycle Dollar Tree Mop Heads Into A Darling Spring Decor Piece For Your Door

Rustic wreaths can be expensive to purchase from home retailers, especially the more elaborate, distinctive, and richer in material they are. These woven wreaths, which come in materials like reed, jute, sisal and other textiles, can look stunning decorated with florals and natural accents. A YouTube DIYer however, has an ingenious hack for creating your own textured rope wreath for under $10 using Dollar Tree supplies. By upcycling a Dollar Tree mop head and a metal wreath form, and adding decorative flowers or greenery, you can make a darling spring décor piece for your door.

A great option for DIY Dollar Tree décor, these natural and textured wreaths are perfect for greeting guests at the front door, or for using in a spot where you want to add some spring charm, like above a fireplace or dresser. Since it's made from mop strands, which are made to get wet and dry thoroughly in open air, it's also ideal for outdoor placement on a porch.

Making a spring wreath from a mop head

To make your wreath, trim the pieces of the mop from the head, resulting in a bunch of loose strands of rope that you can use along the wire frame. Begin looping each piece around the wreath frame, tying one to another and gluing the ends down with hot glue as you go. As you work around, keep the strands as close together as you can for full coverage of the metal frame. Trim off any edges or loose strands when you're done. You could also tie additional pieces of mop around the first layer to give it a fun fringed look in places. Or, create a more braided look by wrapping and overlapping the pieces. You could also fashion the rope segments into a fringed swag gathered in the middle for a gorgeous wreath alternative

Decorating the wreath allows you to get creative. This DIYer uses some Dollar Tree florals, like these Pastel Floral Greenery Bushes and Artificial Tiger Lily Bushes, but you can use any elements you like, including wraparound greenery, floral picks, or other decorations you can hot glue or poke through the spaces between the rope. You can also add ribbons, signage, or other elements to make the wreath fit your décor. To get into the spring spirit, DIY a bunny Easter wreath by adding some rabbit ears with wooden beads to the top. Alternatively, the rope wreath alone gives off a slightly nautical feel, which means it is perfect for adding shells and other sea-inspired details for a coastal-style space.
