How To Add A Pop Of Glam To Your Space With A DIY Pool Noodle Side Table

When someone says glam, the first thing that comes to mind is not necessarily pool noodles. But in the world of DIY, we love to turn things on its head and create the unexpected — especially when using pool noodles in our hacks. Did you know you can even make a cat scratching post from a pool noodle? This particular pool noodle hack lets you add a pop of glam to your space by creating a stunning side table. The best part is that you can find all the material you need at Dollar Tree.

All you'll need to do this is a couple of Colorful Foam Pool Noodles, which you'll cover with faux QC Con-Tact Tan Marble Self-Adhesive Shelf Liners. For the sides of the table, you'll need four Rectangular Silver Charger Plates. For the top of the table, you can go a bit more fancy and get a hexagon mirror, like this Dahey Gold Hexagon Mirror from Amazon, or you can stay on budget with the Dollar Tree and get a Round Silver Plastic Serving Tray. The latter option also means your table is un-shatterable, which is particularly good if you have kids or rambunctious pets at home. Whether you go the full Dollar Tree route or add in some extras, this is still an affordable and fun way to create a side table from scratch.

Before you dive in, keep in mind that this is for a decorative side table, not a fully functional one. Of course, you can still put things on top, like a nice candle or a vase, but the pool noodles and hot glue won't last long if you're constantly moving the table around and resting heavy things on it.

How to make a side table out of pool noodles

To do this hack, cut four 15-inch legs out of your two pool noodles and cover each one with the contact paper. Now that you have your table legs, attach a rectangular charger plate on either side of each leg with some hot glue. The goal is to create a sort of "box" where the noodles are the corners and the plates are the sides. Next, place your tray or mirror on top, and you've got a brand-new side table. To create accents on the legs, use some Thovorrnl Flexible Mirror Sheets. TikToker my_home_by_kenda gives a great step-by-step on how to do this.

There are plenty of ways to make this hack your own. You can swap the top of the table for another shape, and since that part is not attached with glue, you can change your mind and upgrade to a fancier mirror after the fact too. You can do a hexagon as mentioned earlier, a square, or a circle, as long as they aren't much larger than the supporting structure.

Contact paper is a great way to liven up a space, and you can use it as another way to customize this table even more. In addition, paint over the charger trays to make them unique. For example, paint them brown and pair them with some faux wood contact paper instead for a more rustic look. No matter what you try, you'll have a unique, inexpensive, and glamorous addition to your room.
