Installing IKEA's Track Lights Is As Easy As Screwing In A Light Bulb

IKEA sells an endless amount of furniture and appliances that can upgrade your living space — that's why even professional interior designers shop at IKEA. One piece of IKEA decor that can instantly add a bit of elegance to your home is the BAROMETER ceiling track light. This five-bulb lighting fixture comes with a brushed brass finish that makes it easy to incorporate into any aesthetic. And while the BAROMETER lights may look complicated, it's actually incredibly easy to install since the entire apparatus comes pre-assembled. All you have to do is loosen a few screws and plug everything in.

To install IKEA's BAROMETER track lights, you'll first have to turn off the power before unplugging the old fixture. Next, remove the cover of the fixture base so you can access the wires underneath. Plug everything in, then you'll be able to attach the entire set of BAROMETER lights by slotting the side indentations over the screws on the fixture base. Finally, screw in the lightbulbs (sold separately from the lights) and you're all done! If long sets of lights aren't your thing, check out these other classy IKEA light fixtures instead.

Placement ideas for the BAROMETER

Because it's so easy to install, BAROMETER lights can be put up practically everywhere, but that doesn't mean they should be. Generally speaking, you'll want to leave at least a foot and a half of space between the lights and the wall so they can fully light the space. As for where exactly to place the track lights, ceiling fixtures are best installed in the center of a room, or directly above the centerpiece of a space like the bed or dining room table. If you're installing multiple tracks, be sure to keep a level and tape measure on hand to keep everything perfectly even.

Keep in mind that like other track light models, BAROMETER lights are extremely versatile. They can be put up on the wall as well as the ceiling, and you can place them at different angles to light up every corner of your home. You can also adjust where each individual light is pointing to get rid of dark spots. It's not difficult to figure out a good place for BAROMETER lights, but you should be sure to avoid these common lighting mistakes if you have high ceilings.
