Welcome Spring With Adorable Faux Planters Using Dollar Tree Crates

When spring comes around, it's time to figure out how to decorate your home for the season. Rather than opting for the typical spring decor or wall art you can find on store shelves, why not make a one-of-a-kind piece you can customize to your liking? You don't have to be a crafting expert to pull this off. In fact, you can welcome spring by easily creating adorable faux planters in just a few steps using Dollar Tree crates. All you need to do is glue two of the Rectangular Wooden Crates together, and then attach the Craft Wood Planks and Wood Dowels to form a handle across the top of the planter.

You also have the option to tie this Natural Jute Cord to either side of the handle and hang a decorative spring-themed sign from it. All of these Dollar Tree materials cost only $1.25 each, so this DIY is perfect for anyone on a budget. To elevate the faux planter, consider painting it in a fun pastel color that screams spring. You could even add fun garden or spring-themed detailing to the wood with a stencil. If you prefer to keep only real flowers in your home, feel free to prep the inside of the planter so that you can add live plants.

How to create your own faux planter for spring

To create your very own faux planter using mostly Dollar Tree supplies, start by hot gluing two of the wooden crates together lengthwise. Next, glue two of the wooden planks on either side of the crates. Finally, glue one of the wooden dowels in between the wooden planks at the very top. You can then incorporate your own creative touches to customize this DIY planter idea. To hang a sign with a fun message across the top, tie a piece of the Dollar Tree jute cord to both sides of the dowels. To make things easier, consider spelling out your message by sticking these Generic Letter Stickers onto these MixTeach Wooden Tags. You can then string the tags onto the cord.

If you would like to paint your planter, you can use spray paint rather than a brush to complete the process a little faster. When it comes time to fill the planter, you can either add a foam block and faux flowers or modify it to hold real flowers. Just remember to line the inside of the wooden boxes with either heavy-duty plastic lining or landscaping fabric and drill drainage holes through the bottom of the material and the box. You can then plant your flowers as you normally would. When you are done, display the stunning DIY spring decor in your home to celebrate the season.
