Turn A Dollar Tree Garden Staple Into A Cute Toilet Paper Holder For Your Bathroom

If you don't have a dedicated toilet paper storage cabinet in your bathroom, you might find it difficult to figure out where to place your extra toilet paper. This is where a decorative storage basket comes in handy. You could purchase one from your favorite home decor retailer, but where's the fun in that? Consider turning the Black Garden Fence from Dollar Tree into a cute toilet paper holder for your bathroom instead. All you have to do is use a few of the bendable fence pieces to form a basket shape, and hold the structure in place using Dollar Tree's Nylon Cable Ties. Both of the Dollar Tree products needed for this project are only $1.25 each.

Thanks to the black plastic fence pieces, the storage basket will feature an intricate design. You might find the unique toilet paper holder visually pleasing enough to leave it as is. But if not, don't be afraid to add your own decorative elements. You could, for example, change the color of the basket with a few coats of spray paint. If you really want to spice things up, feel free to attach eye-catching detailing like craft stones or wrap jute cord around the fence pieces. This is just an overview of the many different ways you could fully customize the DIY.

Build this toilet paper storage basket in just a few steps

To craft this toilet paper storage basket, take two of the Black Garden Fences and cut off the pointed pieces at the end. You can then attach both fences to one another. Although you can use wire, you may want to keep things simple and affordable by snagging a pack of Dollar Tree's Nylon Cable Ties right along with the fences to use as an alternative. Overlap the two fences at the end and wrap three of the cable ties around them at evenly spaced points where the two fences overlap. Use the same method to attach the opposite ends. This should form a circle.

To close off the bottom of the basket, you can use a third fence; although, it's probably a better idea to use a solid material so that small items you place inside won't fall through the openings at the bottom. Consider hot gluing a round piece of wood to the bottom instead. If you have an appropriate sized wooden tray on hand, such as the XIMISISE Round Wood Tray, you could use that too. After the bottom is in place, cut a third fence as shown above and attach it with zip ties to use as a handle. Keep in mind that this addition is totally optional. You may want to omit the handle to make your basket more compact if you need to save bathroom space. Consider coating your completed basket with Rust-Oleum Metallic Spray Paint in a finish of your choice.
