DIY A Stunning Easter Tree With IKEA's Best-Selling Vase

There are a myriad of ways in which to decorate your home for Easter. Whether it's making papier-mâché eggs, crafting garlands, or DIYing the cutest Easter decor with Dollar Tree clay pots, it doesn't take a crafting expert to get into the festive spirit.

One particularly fun way to add a touch of spring to any room is with a homemade Easter tree. Grab yourself some twigs, a vase, and hanging decorations — all of which can be found at IKEA. Start with the retail giant's best-selling STILREN vase ($17), available in white, black, and gray, and fill it with a TORKA dried bouquet ($20). Next, shop the spring-ready TJÄRLEK collection for fun, bright pieces that are perfect for this project. For just $4, the TJÄRLEK hanging ornaments set comes with six adorable paper decorations shaped like chickens, eggs, and bunnies. Their yellow, orange, and blue hues deliver a great pop of color — plus they're lightweight, so they're ideal for hanging on the dried branches. Add even more whimsy by surrounding your vase with a couple TJÄRLEK branch decorations ($10) covered in colorful paper flowers.

Decorating for Easter with IKEA's best-selling vase

There are so many creative ways to decorate your home with vases, and crafting pretty Easter trees tops the list this season. While IKEA's STILREN vase is perfect as-is, consider going one step further and painting it in an Easter-approved color scheme. Using DecoArt Gloss Enamel Paint (which will stick to the glazed stoneware surface), you can fully coat a white vase or get crafty by painting on spring flowers, bunnies, polka dots, or any other design your heart desires. Sharpies also offer a mess-free alternative to adding a pattern to the vase.

What's more, rather than purchasing dried branches, pick up fallen twigs in the yard (these can be spray painted white for a totally different aesthetic) or clip some leafy and flowering branches from your garden. Simply trim to size and sand off any rough spots, keeping in mind that blooms will only last about seven to 10 days.

As for the decorations themselves, these offer plenty of room for creativity. The only real criteria is that ornaments should be lightweight so as not to snap the branches. Just a few ideas include cutting bunnies and eggs out of colored paper and hanging them with ribbon, turning pom-poms into chicks with pipe cleaner legs and googly eyes, and painting pre-made flat wooden egg ornaments.
