Instagram designer @depruimpjes shows how flipping the picture ledge upside down and installing it along the top of your backsplash can create an easy, inexpensive open shelf.

Ranging from $7.99 to $9.99, depending on which finish you choose, the MOSSLANDA shelf is affordable enough to buy several and pair them up to create an extender backsplash shelf border useful for housing spices or decoration. Once you have picked the finish and figured out how many you need, you are ready to get started. However, you don't need to stop there. Adding a bit of extra lighting under your MOSSLANDA shelf with LED strips will give your kitchen counters a warm glow.

We may be focused on how the MOSSLANDA can give you more kitchen storage (and help you avoid a common mistake when decorating with a countersplash), but you can make this hack work in many rooms. The project is as simple as flipping the MOSSLANDA upside down and adhering it to the wall. The shelves come in 21.75 and 45.25 inch lengths, so you can mix and match the sizes. Still, you may need to trim the length to fit your needs, which is easy to do with almost any kind of saw. 

@depruimpjes uses a high tack kit to adhere the shelf to the wall directly above the tile, but if you aren't concerned about pipes, you can also screw it in. Keep in mind that MOSSLANDA does not come with mounting hardware, so you will want to figure out what materials, such as flat-head screws or wall anchors, you need for your installation.
