Repurpose Ceiling Fan Blades Into Chic Entryway Storage Hooks

What happens when you desperately need entryway storage and just happen to have a stack of fan blades nearby? If you're TikTok user @redeux_style, aka Sarah Teresinski, you repurpose them to create stylish, functional storage hooks to keep your entryway tidy. For this project, Teresinski simply removed the blade's hardware, repainted the blade and hardware, installed anchors in the wall, then flipped the hardware face up and screwed it and the blade into the wall for a chic storage solution.

The whole DIY will take less than a weekend (including paint drying time), meaning you can reuse household items for extra storage in the entryway in a cute way before you head out the door on Monday. All you need are the fan blades — one for however many hooks you want to make — a screwdriver, and two wall anchors per blade. A pencil may come in handy to mark where you'd like to drill holes in the wall before installing.

Do you have to use anchors? Not necessarily — Command strips are a great choice if you're planning on hanging something light or using this DIY primarily as decor — however, their large picture hanging strips max out at 16 pounds. So, if you're planning to hang something heavy or little hands may be tugging at the hooks, a wall anchor may be the safest option. If you're unfamiliar with how to use and remove wall anchor screws, start by checking out what kind of wall is in your entryway, then decide what you want to hang on the DIY storage hooks.

Ways to customize your fan blade storage hooks

When it comes to personalizing a DIY, paint is always a great choice, thanks to its multipurpose nature, flexibility, and lower prices. But there are other fun ways to make this DIY your own. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is an ideal match for this project. Want a wood look that matches the other pieces in your entryway? Check out COSNIGHT Wood Grain Contact Paper. Or, for a more cottagecore vibe, look for a botanical-themed wallpaper. For a more minimal look, a solid color wallpaper, like Dimoon Green Peel and Stick Wallpaper, might do the trick. Cut the paper to size, peel off the back, and apply it to the fan blade before installing it on the wall.

Switching up the hardware is another way to add style to this DIY. Swap the blade bracket out for a more traditional wall hook or something with a more vintage feel, like the XHIPY Vintage Metal Wall Hooks. There are tons of different decorative wall hooks out there, so check out your local hardware store for even more options.

One of the amazing things about this storage hook is it can work anywhere in your house. Looking for towel storage solutions to save bathroom space? Depending on the hardware, this hook could hold up to three towels (ensure it's securely attached to the wall first). It also can corral reusable grocery bags, organize tea towels in the kitchen, or help organize clothes in your closet.
