The 2025 Entryway Trend That Makes An Impact The Moment You Walk In

When it comes to meeting new people, we're taught that a good first impression is majorly important. So, why not apply that logic to houses? Your home's entryway is the first thing that guests will see, and while there are plenty of tips and tricks on making the most of your entryway space, you can use the area for much more than storage and coat racks. In 2025, experts recommend that homeowners and designers look toward bold colors (including some of the paint and Pantone Colors of the Year) to add vitality and intrigue to their entryway spaces.

In an interview with Homes & Gardens, Molly Torres Portnof from DATE Interiors stated that she expects to see "a mix of warm, dark, and cheerful hues" in entryways this year. In the same piece, designer Linda Hayslett of LH.Designs told the brand that "For 2025, entryways are getting their own star treatment with bold colors, statement lighting, and sculptural furniture." She added, "Designers are embracing darker, moodier tones like deep greens or navy, which make the space feel grounded and luxurious." This color shift will not only wow guests who enter your home, but it will also have a ripple effect into the rest of the space. Homes & Gardens also spoke with a color curator, Joa Studholme of Farrow & Ball, who said that starting off with a dark, bold entryway can "make the rooms off it feel bigger and lighter."

How to paint your entryway with bold colors

Once you're committed to the concept of going bold in your entryway, it's time to select the right color and figure out where to paint. You can opt for a stunning entryway accent wall that transforms the look of the space, or go all in and paint every wall in the entrance. Expert insight seems to favor the latter option, though, since the benefits of committing to the bold look will enhance that lightening and space-defying effect it can have on the rest of the rooms nearby. If your foyer is particularly high, like in a two-story open design, you should use a 24-foot ladder and extended rollers to help with the height, or create a straight line between the two stories where you stop painting.

With the logistics side down, the fun part begins: there are plenty of warm, bold colors to choose from, and it may behoove you to start with expert-approved trending paint colors. Benjamin Moore and Pantone both announced that their Colors of the Year were comfortable brown hues — Cinnamon Slate and Mocha Mousse, respectively — so you can color match those hues and explore other deep browns from the paint brands you trust. You can do the same process with BEHR's Color of the Year, Rumors, a deep maroon hue that will have a similar rich and warm effect, and Valspar's Color of the Year, Encore, which is a bold navy-ish blue.

Other ways to enhance your entryway

If repainting isn't in your cost or energy budget, fear not: there are still plenty of big 2025 home entryway trends that you can look toward to spice up the area for your own house. For one, you can opt for a bold entryway rug that allows for the same exciting pop of color but in an entirely new part of the space. Obviously, the rug route is great for boldly-painted rooms as well, but you can forgo the painting process and still bring in warm, trendy tones. If your entryway is on the simpler side, opt for rugs with unique patterns, colors, and shapes to help liven it up. A checkered or striped colorful rug, or even just a beige rug with a complex pattern, will give the room more of a "wow" factor.

You can also consider heightening one of the senses other than sight: smell. Our sense of smell can determine a lot about how we move through the world, as a home or person has the potential to smell inviting (just think of the power of pheromones). Using candles, incense diffusers, and room sprays in your entryway can help your house make a great first impression on guests to keep them coming back for more. Pro tip: consider treating smell like color and pick a few smells that make up your home's palette so that the products you buy are all aligned and not competing with each other.
