DIY Your Own Easter Garland Using Paint Chips
Lost on how to decorate the home for Easter? You're probably not alone. It can be tricky to come up with new decor ideas each year. This is where a DIY project can come to the rescue to free you of the unoriginal store-bought Easter decor that your neighbors, friends, and relatives all likely own some variation of. Make your home stand out by creating your own DIY Easter garland using paint chips. All you have to do is gather a few paint chips (also known as paint swatch cards) from your local home improvement store, cut each of them into the shape of an egg, and use a hole puncher to add holes to the top of each egg. You can then string your colorful eggs onto thick string and hang it wherever you would like.
You have the freedom to customize this DIY Easter decor to suit your preferences. For example, you can either choose the paint chips in your favorite Easter colors, or select shades you don't typically see on Easter decor to switch things up. Additionally, you can choose from a variety of different options for the string. From jute cord to colorful rope, the possibilities are endless. When you are done crafting the garland, consider hanging it above a fireplace or window.
How to create an Easter egg garland with paint chips
To create your DIY Easter egg garland, start by cutting your paint chips into an egg shape. Consider finding a template online and printing it out to use as a guide. Cut the template out of the printer paper, place it on each paint card, trace around it, and cut the card to size. Make sure to trace onto the side of the paint chip that contains written text rather than the colored side so that the markings are not visible.
After cutting all of your paint chips to size, use a small hole puncher to add two holes side by side at the top of each egg. You will need to thread your eggs onto the string with these holes. Consider adding on other decor pieces to the garland too. Since newly bloomed flowers are spotted around Easter time, you may want to add faux flowers to this spring decor between each egg. Spring blooms, such as tulips and daffodils, are a good option. You could also add large beads between the eggs. The ASTARON 15mm Silicone Beads are a great choice.
Add the materials you selected to your decorative string in any pattern you like. As for the string, you will need to select a material that is thick enough to withstand the weight of the craft supplies you add onto it. KINGLAKE Natural Jute Twine is a durable option that pairs well with pastel Easter colors. After sliding your eggs and other pieces onto the string, tie the ends and hang your new garland.
