These Unique Toilet Paper Folds Will Leave A Lasting Impression On Your Guests

If you want to instantly elevate the style of your bathroom, you don't need to invest a ton of time or money into buying fancy new decor. Often, smaller, thoughtful touches can make a bigger difference in improving a space and impressing your guests. One such thoughtful touch is to cleverly fold the toilet paper roll in your bathroom so that your guests feel like they're stepping into a hotel. While toilet paper origami might look very impressive, it's not all that difficult to do. For example, with just a few folds, you can create a fancy pocket with a fan, an elegant toilet paper leaf, or a simple firecracker.

The downside of pretty toilet paper folds is that as soon as someone actually uses the bathroom, the roll reverts back to normal. This is fine if you're only entertaining one guest, but if you are having a party, then only the first person to use the bathroom will be able to appreciate all your hard work. To let multiple guests appreciate the origami, you may want to apply these unique folds to any extra rolls on display in your toilet paper storage solution in addition to the roll you have right next to the toilet. Further, if you're looking for an extra simple way to elevate your toilet paper roll, check out how to stamp it for a fancy hotel finish.

Fan in a pocket

One classy way of folding toilet paper is to create a pocket that displays a mini fan. Completing the look is a two-step process. You'll need to first rip off two attached squares and fold them in half at the seam. Next, starting at the bottom, make a thin fold, flip the paper over, and fold again. Continue flipping and folding until you're left with a fan, and then fold the whole thing in half. Clip the bottom with a binder or chip clip to hold it while you work on the next steps, or simply pinch the base so it stays intact.

To start the pocket, take the bottom right corner of a sheet that's still attached to the roll and bring it to about an inch below the top left corner of the sheet, then fold. Next, fold that triangle in half by bringing the bottom left corner up and over to the right, leaving one small triangle pointing down. Then, fold that triangle so it's pointing upward, and then flip the whole roll over. With the top triangle point now facing down, take each of the bottom corners and fold them so they meet in the middle of the roll, about a half inch from the bottom of the paper. This fold should create two long and narrow triangles on the sides. Carefully crease the edges, flip the roll back over, and you should be left with a pentagon-shaped pocket. Fold the top of the pentagon down so it resembles an envelope and slip the fan inside the pouch.

Leaf shape and firecracker method

Another elegant fold you can try is the leaf shape. To start, take the bottom left corner of the bottom toilet paper square (still attached to the roll) and fold it upwards to meet the upper right corner, forming a slanted triangle. Next, take the top of the triangle and repeatedly fold it back and forth over itself as if you were creating a paper fan at the base of its fold. Continue until it's completely pleated and there is no more left to fold. Then, slightly lift and unravel the toilet paper square so you're looking at the back of the triangle with the pleats on one side. Fold the top right hand corner of the triangle to the left bottom corner, and let the paper rest flat down against the roll. This should leave you with a downward-pointing triangle. Finally, gently open up the folds into a leaf shape.

If the fan and leaf folds are too challenging, don't fret, as there are easier toilet paper origami options. The simplest method involves displaying the rolls vertically with a firecracker-looking appearance. You could place this on your counter or on top of a piece of furniture like this slim storage device that hides toilet paper in style. All you need to do is rip off four squares and set them on top of the vertical roll with the edges alternating. Then, simply poke your finger through the hole and the squares will press neatly inside the roll with the corners sticking out. This will surely impress your guests without requiring any difficult folds.
