DIY The Cutest Decorative Valentine's Day Mailbox Using A Few Dollar Tree Items
Valentine's day is the season for all things cute, sweet, and lovey-dovey. This holiday is our favorite excuse to go over-the-top with cutesy decor, and we can't get enough of all the stunning Valentine's Day DIY decor hacks. If you're looking for an adorable V-Day accent to use around the home or the perfect table centerpiece for your Galentine's Day gathering, this DIY Valentine's Day mailbox is for you. Fill the mailbox with love notes and sweet treats for your nearest and dearest or have your gal pals write encouraging notes to each other to read over wine and a charcuterie board. There are so many cute ways to make this DIY more than just a decoration.
When it's all finished, this project will look like a mailbox standing in a little garden. All you'll need is a small wooden crate for the base, some faux foliage bunches and floral craft foam for the garden, a small wooden plank for the stand (yes, you can find one at Dollar Tree), and a small tin mailbox. Dollar Tree usually carries small mailboxes in pretty Valentine's Day colors, but if your store doesn't have them, Walmart also has the Way To Celebrate Valentine's Day Tin Mailbox for just $1.
Once you've made your mailbox decoration, check out some other frugal decor hacks to put love in the air using inexpensive craft items. Dollar Tree also carries a popular jumbo craft heart, which can be fashioned into a romantic heart-shaped faux topiary or a darling ribbon heart wreath alternative. They also carry wooden hearts in various sizes to paint, stain, or decoupage for various projects.
Assemble your adorable Valentine's Day mailbox
Paint the crate base a pretty pink or bright red — whatever works for your Valentine's vibe — and paint the wood stand white or black. Glue the wooden stand in the middle of the crate so the longer side of the stand is parallel with the longer side of the crate. Then, cut the floral foam and glue it around the wood stand in the crate. Place your faux floral pieces in the foam and then glue the mailbox to the top of the stand. Decorate your mailbox with heart stickers, sprinkle some heart confetti in the foliage, or wrap the stand with some heart ribbon for a finishing touch.
If you don't find a mailbox that's quite right, fear not. There are lots of options to achieve the look you're going for. You can paint the mailbox or cover it with decorative paper or Dollar Tree removable decals. You can also modify this project if you can't find the right tin mailbox. Dollar Tree's adorable Love Letter Mailboxes are a good alternative for $5, and you can still create a little faux garden for a cute table centerpiece or countertop decoration. Just use a wooden tray instead of the crate and omit the stand, placing the mailbox right on top of the foliage. Dollar Tree often carries wooden trays with heart details, which would be perfect for this project. They also have Valentine's Mailbox-Themed Gift Boxes with an opening in the lid to drop notes in, which would still work for your Galentine's notes activity.
