Rose Pedestal Decor Is One DIY Away With Dollar Tree Cotton Rounds

Roses seem more popular during February because of their connection to Valentine's Day. However, if you are a flower lover, roses can be perfect no matter the season (although there is a best time of year to plant roses)! With a few simple items from the Dollar Tree, you will be on your way to creating a beautiful rose pedestal decor piece.

Like many great DIYs, this project's journey begins at the Dollar Tree. You will want to start by purchasing these Assured Cotton Rounds. The 80 count should be enough for one rose, but if you plan to make more than one, you may need more. You will also want to buy this Black Metal Pedestal Candle Holder, some Wood Coasters, and Crafter's Square Wood Bead, which will form the base of the pedestal.

Like many Dollar Tree items, these items only come in certain colors. If you love the black and white look, it will be easy to paint the coaster and wood beads to match to give the piece a chic design. However, if you want brighter colors in your design, it is easy to make this dream a reality with just a few extra steps. To color the cotton rounds, use some markers and color the edges of the rounds. Then, dip the rounds in a small dish of water, which will help spread the color. Get creative by using all the same color or creating an ombre effect with different shades. To change the color of the pedestal candle holder, simply choose your favorite color spray paint. Follow TikTok's time-saving tips to make this spray paint project a breeze.

Create the DIY rose pedestal decor

Start the project by taking your cotton rounds and placing them on the edge of a glass. The wider the opening of the jar, the larger your rose will be. Overlap the cotton rounds halfway and hot glue them together. If you colored the petals, you can skip the glue and use a hair dryer to dry the rounds into place instead. Continue working your way around the glass, adding more layers as you go. When you only have a small center left. Roll a cotton round into a cylinder, and then wrap a second cotton round around the first. Glue this to the center, and it will become your rose's center. Remove the rose from the glass, and your flower is complete!

The next part of this project allows you to really make the project your own. If you can find a small wooden sign at the Dollar Tree, use some E6000 glue to attach a cute sign to the center of the pedestal. This would be a great option for a Valentine's Day theme. Then, take your wooden beads, string them on a skewer, and paint them and the wooden coaster the color of your choice. When dry, string the wooden beads onto a piece of string and tie the ends together. You can then hot glue the beads to the edge of the coaster. Finally, glue the coaster to the bottom of the pedestal and the rose to the top. Your beautiful new decor is ready to be displayed. Looking for other Valentine's DIY projects?
