Costco's Stylish Oil Diffuser Is Indistinguishable From High End Brands

Costco is known for having some pretty incredible alternatives to high-end products. You might have noted the store's more affordable dupe for the softest bedding in the world or the Kirkland vodka that's so good it's been rumored to be made by Grey Goose. The wholesale store's deals seem to be endless, and the quality is nearly always top-notch, making it well-worth the annual membership fees. And this new find is yet another feather in Costco's cap: the Costco oil diffuser is incredibly similar to one made by the high-end brand Baobab.

If you've never used a reed-style essential oil diffuser before, the concept is pretty simple: you place solid reeds or sticks into a container of scented oil, and it diffuses into the air over time with no need for electricity or open flames. You can try out inexpensive versions just about anywhere, but luxury brands have been making high-end diffusers for quite some time now. Enter the Baobab model: Sold at Neiman Marcus and other luxury stores, the Baobab Totem Pearls Black diffuser retails for $240 for a 250ml bottle, $520 for a 2 liters bottle, or $1,040 for a 5 liters bottle, and features a hand-blown glass base with a marbled effect meant to look like black pearls from the Pacific Ocean. This elegant vase holds the black rose and ginger scented oil that's then dispensed by diffuser sticks.

If you don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on a diffuser, you can still make your home smell better than ever with Costco's more affordable dupe. The wholesale store's Torc 800ml Diffuser with Reeds is more than double the size of Baobab's $230 version and under £35. The product comes in two scents, which each have their own color themes: the Pomegranate & Violet Mist scent comes in a white and gray marbled container and features light, floral notes like cyclamen and lavender. The Amber Bush & Jasmine scent comes with a blue and gold vase and leans warmer, with notes of jasmine, amber, and cedarwood.

Reviewers online are shocked over the similarities between the two diffusers, especially when the price difference is so large. "It's not the same, but very similar," user @tabbybellx said in a TikTok video, comparing her Costco purchase to the Baobab one. She confirmed that it "smells gorgeous" and is worth running to Costco for. Unfortunately, this product is only available in the UK, but you can buy the Sand & Fog 750ml diffuser from Costco in the US for $24.97, which comes in the scents Cashmere and Palo Santo. "Both smell amazing," creator @caffeinatedonabudget shared in a TikTok, explaining that she had originally bought them as gifts for friends but kept them for herself because they were simply too good to give away.
