DIY An Adorable Homely Centerpiece Using Items From The Dollar Tree

Does it seem like your table or kitchen island is missing a finishing touch, but you just can't figure out what it is? A centerpiece might be the solution. Before you head out to your favorite home decor store to scour the shelves, consider crafting an adorable homely centerpiece using items from Dollar Tree like DIY Diva did. It can easily double as DIY Valentine's Day decor too if you choose to add festive details. This centerpiece will consist of two pieces — a distressed wooden tray and a painted wooden house. To create the tray, just glue large beads between two wooden cutting boards. Decorate a wooden house-shaped decor piece and place it on top of the tray.

You can paint the tray in a way that creates a distressed look and transform the house by coating it in your preferred paint color. This is all you have to do to craft your very own Dollar Tree DIY centerpiece. The Dollar Tree supplies you'll need to pick up include Valentine's Day Wooden House, two Bamboo Cutting Boards, Crafter's Square Wood Beads, and Floral Garden Decorative Rope. This project also requires the use of a few other items, such as glue, wood-friendly paint, and wooden skewers. All in all, this supply list is super affordable. The low cost makes this DIY centerpiece a budget-friendly alternative to store-bought decor.

How to craft this centerpiece in a few simple steps

To create your DIY home decor tray, slide the Crafter's Square Wood Beads down two wooden skewers until they are filled to the top, and glue them on both of the longest sides of one of the Bamboo Cutting Boards. Using a hot glue gun instead of the adhesive can save time. Next, line the other two sides of the cutting board with the beads by hot gluing them on with the holes facing upward. Glue your second board on top, remove the skewers from the beads, and move on to painting your completed tray.

Rather than recreating the distressed look shown above, you could paint the tray a solid color and add a transfer design to the top. If you plan to use the tray to decorate for Valentine's Day, consider using one of the Gisgfim Valentine's Day Rub on Transfers. Once you've painted and decorated the tray however you'd like, go ahead and move on to customizing the Valentine's Day Wooden House.

If you'd like to recreate the look shown above, remove the detailing and repaint it. Wrap the Floral Garden Decorative Rope around the top when done and string on a few of the painted wooden beads. Another fun decor idea is to sand off the text and add your own fun message by painting inside of letter stencils. Consider wrapping fairy lights around the house too. Place the house on the tray to complete the look.
