Dollar Tree's Furniture Polish Might Be A Perfect Dupe For A More Expensive Brand

We all want our furniture to look its best; for wooden furniture this necessarily means keeping it dusted and in some cases polished. But before you grab any random product, you need to ensure that your arsenal is armed with the appropriate materials to leave your furniture looking great — without resulting in any damage to the item. You might be used to using expensive furniture polishes, such as Pledge spray, which can easily cost you over $5 for a can, but there's a cheaper alternative available at Dollar Tree. Can it deliver comparable results for a fraction of the price, though?

TikTok creator @ashleyreaves23 tests out both Pledge furniture spray and the much more affordable Home Store Furniture Polish from Dollar Tree to see which is better. Her video begins with her spraying the Dollar Tree product on one half of the table and polishing it with a soft cloth, and then does the same on the other side with the Pledge product. Her assessment is that the Pledge cleaner is a much thicker consistency than Dollar Tree's product, which she describes as being watery. The Pledge, she suspects, would be better at collecting dust and cleaning the surface of a piece of furniture, thanks to its superior quality. But is this one of the underrated Dollar Tree items you should stop overlooking? Here's what the customer reviews say.

Customer feedback on the Dollar Tree dupe

Unfortunately, the exact product featured in the TikTok video is no longer available at Dollar Tree. Sites that continue to carry it, however, feature mixed reviews: on Amazon, one customer praises its efficacy, but others criticize it for being cheap and ineffectual, not delivering any of the results that it claims to. Today, Dollar Tree does, however, carry another furniture polish under a different product name and packaging, which customers have a much higher opinion of.

What was once called The Home Store Furniture Polish is now sold under the name Chase's Home Value Lemon Cream Furniture Polish. A 10-ounce can of the spray costs $1.25 and the product says it is made in the U.S. It has a 4.6-star average out of 21 customer reviews, with many buyers leaving 5-star reviews. One particularly pleased customer writes, "My husband and I were able to have his family gathering dinner table passed down to us. I bought this polish to spruce it up and it worked great! This product brought this 40+ year old table back to life again." Another customer review mentions that the spray made the table shine comparably to Pledge or Old English furniture polishes.

While cheaper alternatives can be disappointing in their performance, the potential savings available in this furniture polish might make it worth you testing it out. If you're keen to try Dollar Tree's product, it can be a good idea to check your local store's availability before heading out, as inventory can vary from location to location. Finally, remember to polish with moderation, as some furniture polishing practices can do more harm than good.
