Repurpose A Dollar Tree Bathroom Accessory Into A Fantastic Window Bird Feeder

Dollar Tree's bird feeder collection isn't very substantial. However, if you're imaginative, the collection is larger than you think. YouTuber @goodvibeswithjen discovered that an unexpected item could double as a window-mounted bird feeder and cost less than shipping would for some feeders. Dollar Tree's Home Collection Plastic Bath and Shower Accessories have many of the same features as expensive window-mounted bird feeders. These suction-cup mounted soap dishes and toothbrush holders that help organize your hygiene essentials are equally useful outdoors. Secure a suction toothbrush holder or small soap dish to a window, load it up with bird seed, and watch your avian friends flock to your new, inexpensive feeder. Mounted outside your window, these bird feeder stand-ins give you an intimate look at your visitors during their meals.

The holders come in clear and gray; choose clear products so you get the best view of the animals while they are snacking. Since these kinds of bathroom accessories have drainage holes in their bases, avoid filling them with feeder mixes that contain small seeds like millet. There's a good reason to keep only one type of seed in these feeders. That said, black oil sunflower seeds appeal to a wide variety of birds, and the seeds are large enough not to fall through the drainage holes.

While the cup-toothbrush holder combo and soap dishes work well for holding seeds, the line also includes a tall soap dish and a shower caddy. Both of these can serve as DIY suet bird feeders. This tall soap dish is cup-shaped and has an open top as well as a wide gap that's open all the way to the container's base; this opening gives birds plenty of space to access tasty morsels. Cut suet cake into halves or thirds, and set slices in the receptacle one at a time. If you have suet balls, one or more may sit nicely inside the container, depending on their size.

Feed a flock at the same time with a suet-packed shower caddy platform. The line's shower caddy consists of two cups to hold shampoo and conditioner bottles, and they are linked with a soap dish that sits between them. The bottle holders would accommodate suet balls nicely, and a slice of suet cake the soap platform will provide for many hungry birds. Although the bottle holder cups' bases have one large drainage hole each, you could also slide a shallow plastic container into each holder and fill them with seed for the perfect seed-and-suet feeder combo.
