Are IKEA Sectionals Worth The Price? Here's What Reviewers Have To Say

You might already know that IKEA is an extremely popular place to purchase all kinds of furniture. You probably also know IKEA makes you assemble your furniture at home, but that's part of the charm for some people. If you're going to go through the work of putting together a big piece of furniture like a sectional, you want it to be worth the price so you don't feel like you're wasting your time or money.

Are IKEA sectionals a good value for the money? We decided to sample a variety of reviews for several different IKEA sectional models to give you advice on whether or not they're worth it. While sampling dozens of reviews, we did not find a consensus to say that all IKEA sectionals are worth the price. We found customers of certain designs were pleased with the longevity of the furniture, receiving in a good value. However, we also found reviewers who were unhappy with the quality they received, meaning they did not feel like they received a good value.

Some of these could be considered the best sectionals for your living room for a value shopper, while others don't quite make the cut. It is worth noting that IKEA typically has more affordable furniture than other places, so some people automatically consider its furniture a good value. An average sectional costs between $3,500 and $5,000, but each of the IKEA sectionals on our list are less than $2,000.

Reviewers like the value of the JÄTTEBO sectional from IKEA

If you're shopping for the perfect sectional for your space, the JÄTTEBO three-seat sectional has excellent reviews that make it a good value. It's available for $1,600 at IKEA, but it has clean lines and a modern look that makes it resemble more expensive brands. Additionally, it has a built-in storage area within the seats and the chaise, which adds to the value of this model. You don't have to invest in separate furniture to provide some storage.

If comfort is your primary measure of the value of a sectional, the JÄTTEBO has mixed reviews here. The back part of the sofa is extremely low, leaving you no place for your neck. YouTube reviewer TravelTechDesign mentioned this issue but otherwise loved what the JÄTTEBO sectional offered.

YouTube reviewer Sweden Furnishing wasn't able to fully test the durability of the JÄTTEBO right after buying it, but the 10-year warranty and the ability to remove and wash the cover shows that it should have a good value over time. Reviewers on the IKEA website give this sofa their stamp of approval and it's gained a five star rating, but there are only a handful of reviews to work with.

Reviewers who purchased the FINNALA sectional are generally happy with the value they received

Another IKEA sectional that receives mostly favorable reviews regarding value and durability is the FINNALA sectional. You can purchase the four-seat version for $1,699 at IKEA. The kit ships with a chaise, and a few reviewers mentioned that being able to store items inside the chaise adds to the convenience of this model. It's a practical sectional that is a little larger than some similar-looking products from IKEA, which some people will say enhances the FINNALA's value. Comfort is a key factor in the value of the FINNALA sectional, according to YouTube reviewer IKEA Wizard Review, as this piece offers the perfect mixture of plushness and support.

A couple of other reviewers appreciated the FINNALA long after purchasing it, as it showed excellent value over time. YouTube reviewer All About Mumz Watt said the FINNALA sectional was in great shape after one year, and it still ranks as one of the best purchases they have ever made. While most were impressed with the sectional's performance, a few reviewers had issues with the fabric, stating that it didn't look like the color in the product photos and that it gets dirty easily.

The SÖDERHAMN sectional's longevity makes it a good value, according to reviewers

Many reviewers of the SÖDERHAMN sectional mention its impressive longevity and durability, highlighting the value it offers over the long run. You can purchase the four-seat SÖDERHAMN sectional for $1,179 at the IKEA website. Affordability has been an IKEA hallmark for many years. The SÖDERHAMN sectional follows IKEA's affordability theme, providing a good value considering what you pay. Some reviewers say that the SÖDERHAMN's style is timeless, meaning you won't feel the need to replace it as trends change over the years.

YouTube reviewer KRT LYFE did a video review after five years of owning the SÖDERHAMN and says the sectional continues to retain an impressive level of comfort. After three years of using the SÖDERHAMN, YouTube reviewer The Craf-T Home says the cushions continue to retain their shape and remain comfortable.

One reason why it offers excellent durability is its cotton-and-polyester fabric cover that includes a woven deep texture. This cover is made to be machine washable, showing its resilience. YouTube reviewer Booboo Channel says the ability to change the cover after it becomes excessively soiled enhances the value and longevity of the SÖDERHAMN design.

Reviewers give the KIVIK sectional mixed ratings on its longevity and value

The KIVIK sectional from IKEA is one of its most affordable sectionals at $1,399 for the four-seat design. YouTube reviewer Free Range Cottage says the price point of the KIVIK sectional is extremely reasonable compared to other sectionals, giving it a good value. Many reviewers like the KIVIK, but some of them are disappointed in the longevity that the sectional offers. It generates more negative reviews for poor longevity — and value — than the other models on our list.

A few reviewers on the IKEA website mention that the sectional is made from poor-quality materials and doesn't seem to last as long as other, older models from the brand. Some noted that it fell apart after a few years of regular use, while others noted that the washable covers didn't hold up well with regular laundering.

However, not all reviewers agree that the KIVIK is a poor value because of longevity issues. YouTube reviewer Platinum Life Project says the cushions are as comfortable as a mattress, and they've remained that way for two years after purchase. YouTube reviewer US Japan Fam likes the durability of the sectional a year and a half after purchase, even with three young kids using it constantly.

Reviewers like the value of the VIMLE sectional for its replaceable covers and price point

When you want a big sectional, the VIMLE sectional from IKEA contains four seats for a cost of $1,699. Reviewers generally like the VIMLE's design and value, although it does have some detractors. YouTube reviewer One Cheap Eric said the love seat model of the VIMLE was appealing because of its extremely low price. However, by the time they selected their desired add-ons, the price began to rise quickly, limiting the value received.

Several reviewers of the VIMLE sectional, including TikToker @abilourichards, appreciate the fact that it has washable and replaceable covers. This feature lengthens the lifespan of the sectional. If you choose a light-colored cover, being able to wash it is a significant advantage. As long as the cushions and frames are in good shape, just replace the cover to give the sectional a whole new look.

YouTube reviewer A Pop of Pretty said the foam in the cushions on the VIMLE resists sagging and maintains its shape well. This extends the longevity of the sectional. YouTube reviewer Mohamed El Abdaoui likes the extra value that the hidden storage inside the chaise provides.
