Whip Up A Sweet Valentine's Day Centerpiece With Pool Noodles From Dollar Tree

Valentine's Day decor floods store shelves soon after New Year's Day. You might be used to buying some of these pieces to decorate your home, but you'd probably find it a bit more fun to make your own decor, which doesn't have to be expensive at all. In fact, you can whip up a sweet Valentine's Day centerpiece with pool noodles from Dollar Tree. All you have to do is use a poster board to cover a small laundry basket so that it resembles a cupcake wrapper and then create frosting for the makeshift cupcake by taping white pool noodle pieces into circles and stacking them on top.

This DIY will leave you with a giant cupcake that you can customize any way you want. For example, you could attach small stuffed animals or flowers to the foam pool noodles. When you are done personalizing the Dollar Tree Valentine's Day DIY, set the large cupcake in the center of your kitchen table to make your dining area festive for the holiday; alternatively, give the cupcake to a special someone as a gift. 

To create this DIY centerpiece, cut a Neon Pink Poster Board from Dollar Tree in half and fold both pieces accordion-style, so that they resemble a cupcake wrapper. Next, glue both halves around one of Dollar Tree's Stacking Plastic Laundry Baskets along the top so that it's completely covered. If you already have a small round laundry basket at home, save $1.25 by using it instead (then disassemble the DIY to continue using the basket after the holiday). 

Next, cut and duct tape Dollar Tree's Foam Pool Noodles into three or four circles. The bottom circle should be large enough to fit over the basket's rim, while the rest should get progressively smaller. Stack them from large to small on top of the basket, using a hot glue gun to adhere them together. You don't have to use white pool noodles — choose whichever color you prefer. For example, red or pink shades are more vibrant and still align with the Valentine's Day theme. Finally, insert a pool noodle piece vertically through the center of the frosting, and use the hole to hold a Valentine's Day balloon. 

Instead of a balloon, you could slide a bouquet of flowers inside for nature-inspired home decor.
