Dupe A Chic Pottery Barn Candle Centerpiece With An Inexpensive Dollar Tree DIY

While more luxurious home retailers often have beautiful items that elevate your space and fit many different décor aesthetics, these items can sometimes come with a hefty price tag. This can be particularly hard to navigate when decorating a home for the first time, or if you like to change out your décor often. While these high-end buys often revel in craftsmanship and material richness that is hard to find from less expensive objects, YouTube's KraftsbyKatelyn shows off an amazing hack for creating a dupe of a pretty Pottery Barn candle holder that looks almost like the real thing. The easy DIY costs considerably less when made with easy-to-find Dollar Tree materials and a little ingenuity.

The Pottery Barn piece features a bottom tray filled with pebbles, from which emerge a number of candle holders on stems that vary in height topped with glass holders. It's a piece that would be equally stunning on a console, mantel, coffee table, or as a beautiful dining table centerpiece. While the original holder costs $109, the Dollar Tree dupe can be assembled for less than $20 and is customizable both in size and finishes, as well as the pebbles you use.

Creating a Pottery Barn candle centerpiece dupe

To create this stylish pebble holder, use two Dollar Tree Wooden Plank Boards to build the base, attaching them together end to end with hot glue and Jumbo Craft Sticks to brace them together firmly. Once your supports have dried, begin building the rim of your tray with Tumbling Tower Game pieces, gluing them along their sides around the tray. Once the tray has dried, paint it in your desired finish. Great options include matte black, white, gold, silver, or another shade that matches your décor.

Dollar Tree sells a number of stemmed candle holders that will work for this project, including these Brushed Metal Taper Candle Holders. Use hot glue to fasten them down to the base. (You can add it to the bottom and the top portions covered by pebbles for extra security.) Use more glue to attach glass candle holder votive holders on top. Try these Clear Glass Tealight HoldersPlated Cut Glass Candle Holders, or these fun Textured Glass Candle Holders.

Customizing the look of your candle centerpiece

You can easily customize the project with your choice of glass containers, holders, and the variety of pebbles you use for the bottom. For an earthy aesthetic, use these Multi-Colored River Pebbles or Urban Decorative Accent Pebbles. For a bit of color, use Mixed Glass Accent Gems or Tiny Decorative Pebbles. If you have a coastal living room, try sand, shells, or Sea Glass in the bottom. Or use the tray for seasonal objects like faux berries or mini pine cones.

You can even customize the sides of your tray. Instead of using the wood game pieces, opt for the Wooden Beads glued around the perimeter for a more boho-chic look. Or, cut down some Wood Dowels for even shallower sides. If you don't want to build the tray from scratch, use any of Dollar Tree's many trays or glue 3 of these shallow Square Wood Boxes together along the sides in a line.
