It appears to be a good IKEA buy to optimize a small kitchen, as people seem to like the compact size for a small space and praise its performance. Before buying your kitchen appliances from IKEA, there are other things you should know, such as information about repair, warranty protection, and how flexible it is to fit in a non-IKEA kitchen design. An appliance like a dishwasher can last 10 to 20 years depending on the brand and model, so make sure an IKEA one is right for you with the right questions and research.

Two of the positive reviews of the ESSENTIELL dishwasher, which retails for $599 on IKEA, praise it for being quiet. Just don't expect low-octave operations from all models.

A good comparison for loudness:  35 decibels (dB) is the sound of normal rainfall, but 60 dB is the volume of the average conversation between two people. The LAGAN is one of the cheapest dishwashing options, as it only costs $369 from IKEA. However, Apartment Therapy listed it as being loud with a dB of 59. The RENGJORD has overall mixed reviews, with only a 2.9 rating on the IKEA website, but at least two customers said it was very quiet. Regarding the VILLKORLIG, one review expressed being surprised at how loud it was, whereas two others stated it was far from noisy.

In other words, your IKEA dishwasher can be quiet depending on the model or possible repair concerns. Issues with the water hammer can create ongoing noise or a sudden bang, which you can fix by buying and installing a water hammer arrestor.

The short answer is yes, but understand that you will have some limitations and adjustments to consider. You won't have to guess when your dishes are ready with the LAGAN model that costs $399 on IKEA. An included automatic feature opens the door and keeps it ajar for faster drying near the end of the wash. Be mindful that the cheaper LAGAN model has three dish programs, but the other has six.
