Transform A Cardboard Box Into A Sparkling DIY Vase For Faux Florals

Eco-friendly home design has become a popular trend, especially when upcycling is involved. For homes lacking a little floral embellishment, a DIY vase is a great way to embrace the growing green decor movement. You can turn a few unexpected materials into a luxe vase for unique home decor on a budget with a little imagination — and a bit of cardboard. This is exactly what YouTuber Yoduvh Essentials did. She created a super glam flower vessel by cutting a packing box to her desired shape and size, painting it silver, and gluing on small dessert plates and other embellishments.

If you're looking for ways to soften your space and add a little nature to your aesthetic, why not make your own luxe plant holder by reusing cardboard from around the house? There's so much of it coming and going, whether it's cereal boxes, online order deliveries, and even storage. And with all the game-changing tricks that make artificial flowers look so real, it's a great time to invest in faux blooms that make you smile. Check out how to form your own eco-friendly faux floral arrangement and customize it to your tastes.

Building a cardboard box vase

To start this project, you'll need some supplies. The plates Yoduvh Essentials used in her video are discontinued mini silver plastic plates from Party City. Blue Sky mini wear disposable dessert plates are a good alternative if you paint them or coat them in glue and metallic glitter. You'll also need crystal trim and faux diamonds. The KEJUEEB adhesive rhinestone ribbon and Dollar Tree floral garden diamond-shaped vase filler are affordable choices. If you're looking for cardboard DIYs to add style and decor to any room in your home, this project is a great way to do it. Now, to get crafting.

Cut two oval pieces of cardboard to form the sides of your vase. Glue the sides together and cut another piece to line the bottom where the newly formed pocket puckers open. Paint the entire thing and glue the plates on. Line the opening with rhinestone ribbon and gemstones to finish. Customize yours to fit your space. Swap out the dessert trays for tiny reflective stick-ons, like Lusofie mini mirrors, or create a pattern using the rhinestone tape. You can also play with color, mixing metallic paints and embellishments to include silver, gold, rose gold, or even copper. Because of the cardboard, this is best suited to faux blooms, but you can put an insert inside for real ones. A Modgy expandable vase would work well. Once complete, you have a beautiful and unique way to display flowers and recycle in the process.
