A Quick Idea For Refreshing Your Home Decor Using What You Already Have

Each new year or season in your home can have you itching to try something new with your décor, whether it's a fresh style change or a refinement of your current design aesthetic. While stores are filled with endless aisles of décor, you may be looking for a more budget-friendly approach, especially if you like changing up your rooms on the regular. Instagram DIYer @holamagente_decor may have the perfect solution for using things you already have in your home in new and innovative ways; using an ordinary vase, a towel, some string lights, and some natural branches to create a stunning new piece for next-to-nothing at all.

While similar branch arrangements home could easily cost upwards of $20, this wallet-friendly DIY is easy to assemble and keeps you from throwing out old or unused décor. By considering how to reuse pieces and natural accents you already have to make new decorative accents, you can easily keep your home looking fresh and new with each creation without spending a dime.

Creating a lighted branch arrangement

This DIY uses any ordinary vase and will work well with rounder and larger pieces, though you can scale it down to smaller branches for a smaller vessel. Think about ways to customize the vase, including new paint treatments, adding crystals or glitter, or decoupaging papers or other materials on the exterior. You can also add additional texture and raised accents using joint compound, plaster of Paris, or a hot glue gun. In addition to vases, you could use other kinds of pottery, bowls, and planters.

To add some light, wind string lights around the inside of your vase, which can show through more transparent materials like glass, or provide a nice uplight that extends up the branches. Hold up your materials inside the vase with some sort of soft material. This DIYer uses a simple towel to keep the branches in place, but you could also use styrofoam or floral foam available from Amazon or Dollar Tree for a firmer hold. For a clear container, consider using other materials like sand, pebbles, sea glass, or marbles in the bottom. You could also use natural materials like pine cones or nuts.

This is a great chance to use tree branches as home décor, which can be left natural or painted to fit your aesthetic. Bare branches or pine boughs are a great accent for winter, while cherry, magnolia, or dogwood blossom buds make a beautiful arrangement to refresh your home for spring.
