The Creative Closet Storage Hack That Uses A Broomstick For More Hanging Space
Have you ever heard someone say they wish they had less storage in their closet? Well, we haven't either, which is probably why there are so many clever closet storage solutions to keep your space organized out there. While many organizational methods involve purging your belongings, this isn't an option for everyone — especially if you've already decluttered your closet to the max. However, there is a unique DIY multi hanger you can build that will create more precious hanging space in your closet. The best part is, all you need to build it is an old broomstick and soda tabs.
While there are other similar solutions to creating more hanging space, such as this old soda can tab hack for an organized closet, they typically only make use of the vertical space in your closet. If you're using storage cubbies for shoes and other items in the bottom of your closet, that vertical space will quickly run out. This closet storage hack is unique because the multi hanger uses the depth of your closet and allows you to hang clothes perpendicular to the closet rod. Another benefit of this closet storage hack is that it helps the planet by using materials that might otherwise get tossed. Next time you're thinking of upgrading your broom and chucking the old one, remember this hack, inspired by YouTube creator Tips Secret — and use the stick to create more hanging space in your closet.
How to build this DIY multi hanger
In addition to an old broomstick and soda pop tabs, you're going to need a drill and screws. You'll also need a metal hanger or hook, or you can repurpose a broken clothes hanger. Putting them all together is a piece of cake. First, cut the broomstick so that it fits perpendicularly in your closet. Then, drill holes for the pull tabs on the broomstick, taking care to evenly space them out to distribute weight. Screw the tabs in and add the hanger piece to the top of the broomstick. After those are in place, you can attach hangers to each of the soda pop tabs, and you'll now have room to hang around six different garments without taking up too much space on your closet rod.
If you need to make the most of your small closet space, you can replicate this hack to create several multi hangers. Plus, you'll likely still have leftover broomstick. The one caveat with these hangers is that if you pull clothes off of only one side, the whole thing might tip over; you'll have to hold it steady while hanging up and taking off your clothes. It also might be a good idea to only hang light garments to avoid overloading the hanger.
