Reuse An Old Bottle To Make The Most Stylish Bohemian Vase
Old glass bottles can serve almost endless reuse projects and cool upcycling endeavors. Many of these DIYs create gorgeous, customizable and inexpensive décor pieces, which can easily double for much more high end pieces you would find at a home décor or craft store. While many people love to use glass bottles as vases, especially if they're pretty colored or ornately finished, you can make even the most basic glass bottle into a stylish vase with just the addition of some wooden skewers and jute twine. The result is a Boho-chic vase perfect for putting flowers and greenery into your décor.
This project is nearly free if you are using a bottle you already have and is a great chance to repurpose empty alcohol bottles or reuse olive oil bottles. Cooking skewers and twine are both available from Dollar Tree. You will also need a glue gun, as well as any other decorative accents you may wish to add. This project is fully customizable in size. Just cut down the skewers to a shorter length for smaller bottles. A grouping of bottles in various shapes and styles is a perfect way to decorate your home with Bohemian style.
Creating a vase from a bottle and wood skewers
After thoroughly cleaning your bottle and removing any labels or adhesive residue, place a skewer flush with the bottom and affix it with hot glue, continuing the same process as you go around the perimeter of the bottle. When you have covered the surface, take a roll of twine and begin wrapping it around the base of the bottle, wrapping upward. Use another length of twine to wrap the top, pulling the skewers inward to your desired tightness and wrapping with another 2-inch band of twine. Finish your DIY off by adding your plants or flowers inside with some water. Leave the vase as it is for a simple minimalist look or affix additional decorative details to the exterior with some ribbon, wooden beads, or greenery made of fabric.
While this will make a tall vase, you can actually use this technique on any glass container, including old glass jars you'd like to upcycle. These will create more cylindrical shapes than tapered ones, which you can use as vases or candle holders for tea lights or LED votives.
