How To Install LED Lights On Your John Deere Lawn Mower

Adding LED lights to your John Deere lawn mower is not only a practical upgrade, but an affordable one. You can perform this simple upgrade to outfit your lawn mower for tasks like snow plowing, leaf collection, or mowing, after the sun goes down. Although there are a ton of different types of LED lightbulbs, we recommend the AUXITO 1156 LED bulbs for this project. You will also need Nilight LED light bars, a mini 12 Volt DC circle toggle switch, 12 gauge 50 foot electrical wire, crimp connectors, heat shrink tubing, and a heat gun.

First, choose where you will place the LED bulbs and light bars on your mower. Both the front and rear are good options, especially if you're working at night. Attach each light bar bracket and secure them with screws, then run the 12 gauge electrical wire through the back of each bracket. Combine the positive and negative wires from each light and secure them into a set. Take the negative wire and attach it to the battery, then run the positive wire to the circle toggle switch. Then connect the switch to the battery and ensure the switch rating either matches or exceeds the power requirements of the light. Be sure to mount the switch in an easily accessible place so you can toggle it on and off when needed.

You can even mount a second switch for the back lights for easy reach and versatility. To finish up this project, be sure to strip the ends of each wire and attach a crimp connector. Seal each connector using heat shrink tubing and a heat gun to protect the connections from weather and wear.

Other ways to use LED lights on your vehicles

Adding LED lighting to your mower isn't the only way you can utilize these lights for nighttime use. Adding LED lights to other vehicles like ATVs can make a practical yet stylish solution. This versatile upgrade on ATVs enhances visibility during night rides or trail adventures. LED light bars or pods can help ensure better safety and navigation during your rides. They also work on golf carts, trucks, and trailers. Add LEDs on these vehicles to improve load-in or towing visibility, or to simply spruce up your vehicle for a nighttime event.

Another clever way to use LED lighting is to add it as an accent or ambient lighting on the inside of cars and trucks. You can also try adding an LED underbody kit for a sleek look on any vehicle. Whether you're using them for work during the evening hours or as fun additional lighting, LED lights can be a game changer. They not only provide long-lasting additional light, but they are known to be more efficient than regular light bulbs.
