The Dollar Tree Jewelry Storage Hack That Will Elevate Your Counters
While some people like their jewelry hidden away to avoid clutter on their bathroom counters, others prefer having their entire collection out in the open, which helps when prepping up for a night out. Fortunately, there are plenty of jewelry organizers that can fit your space perfectly in terms of looks and preferences, ranging from stands, boxes, stacking trays, or wall mounts.
But if you're yearning for a project that will flex your DIY muscles, Instagram user Isabella Lafferty walks us through an easy jewelry storage hack that makes use of affordable Dollar Tree items. Using only a picture frame and a few sheets of crafter's fabric, she creates a simple but elegant black jewelry display case that can be propped up like a photograph, simultaneously elevating the look of her bathroom vanity and saving precious counter space. Best of all, this entire hack will only set you back between $2 and $3.
Take this hack even further
Isabella Lafferty starts by removing the glass from a 5x7 picture frame in matte black (Dollar Tree, $1.25.) She then rolls strips of black Crafter's Square Craft Fabric ($1.25) into tube-like forms before lining them along the back of the frame, keeping them compact against each other. After replacing the backing of the frame, she trims the excess fabric off the edges and props the frame on her counters. Earrings and rings can now be inserted between the fabric tubes, the black velvet and frame beautifully setting off the shiny, sparkly jewelry items.
While the DIY is a quick and easy solution for a jewelry storage case on the go, we can certainly envisage ways to take this hack to the next level. To create more robust rolls to hold your jewelry, use Dollar Tree Foam Hair Rollers ($1.25) — simply measure and trim several rollers to snugly fit within the picture frame's width. Secure them to the frame's backing with glue or double-sided tape. You can also line the bottom of the frame with velvet paper or fabric to create a non-slip surface. Mix and match the colors, frame materials, and fabric to personalize jewelry storage that harmonizes well with your vanity dresser or bathroom counter.
