The Clever Closet Hack You Need To Keep Matching Baby Clothes Organized

There's no denying that baby clothes are adorable — from the tiny sizes to the adorable patterns adorning many articles, there's a lot to love about your little one's wardrobe options. Less adorable, however, is frantically trying to find the matching pants or leggings for your kiddo's shirt or dress. Small clothes are notoriously easy to misplace and many parents and caregivers are well-acquainted with the frustration of constantly mismatched outfits. If you count yourself among this group of adults that is overwhelmed by getting a little person dressed in the morning, there's a clever and budget-friendly closet hack that can help keep matching baby outfits organized.

TikTok creator @andrea_mrllo made a short video showing a trick that makes matching outfits easy to pull off. In this hack, curtain hooks are repurposed and slipped over hanger hooks, so that the entire outfit is consolidated on a single hanger. The creator says that they were able to score a pack of 40 curtain hooks for $14, making each hook a mere 35 cents (a small price to pay for sanity when you're trying to get your baby dressed and out the door). Viewers of the video are enthusiastic about this hack, calling it "genius," and "so smart." The mom also claims that this makes it easier for kids to get dressed independently.

How to pull off this hack and additional applications

There's no denying that this hack is clever, so how can you pull it off in your kids' closets? Depending on how many curtain hooks you anticipate needing, you can find an appropriately numbered multipack online. This 40-pack of curtain rings from LLPJS is $13, making it a little cheaper than what the TikTok creator said they spent. In addition to various options for the number of hooks, you can also have some fun by choosing between a variety of hook colors to best reflect your aesthetic. While the TikTok video shows the hooks in action for matching boys' pants to shirts, you can just as easily use them for matching leggings or skirts to shirts, dresses, or blouses, if that is what your child wears.

Another application for this hack is to keep seasonal accessories organized. Clip your toddler's floppy bucket hat to a hanger holding their swim shirt and trunks, for example. Another way to use these curtain hooks is to pair them with 3M Command strips. Hang a few hooks in a staggered arrangement on your child's closet wall and simply place the curtain ring on the Command hook. You can use this trick to keep hats, scarves, and other commonly misplaced small accessories on hand. While maintaining an orderly wardrobe for littles can be difficult, there are a multitude of expert tips to make organizing your baby's clothes less daunting.
