Turn Leftover Wine Corks Into Crafty Christmas Home Decor To Elevate Your Space

If you are a wine lover and drink it regularly, you may harbor a small or large collection of corks you've been saving up, either for sentimental reasons or for one of the many ways to repurpose wine corks, including stunning accent walls and to keep your home office organized. If you have a large number of corks, they can especially come in handy during the holidays, where you can make easy and beautiful rustic holiday décor for nearly nothing. TikTok DIYer @sarahepop30 uses wine corks and a foam tree to create adorable cork pine trees, whose pieces look a little like the real branches and boughs of an evergreen, The result is an adorable addition to holiday tablescapes and mantels, or anywhere else in your home this season.

The corks themselves add texture and interest wherever you use them in your décor. They fit especially well with more rustic and neutral decorations, where they evoke a vintage feel and the coziness of nights by the fireside with a glass of your favorite beverage. You can also use the corks for creating other pieces, wreaths, and garlands to elevate your holiday décor for a Christmas on a budget.

Using corks for holiday decor pieces

To create a wine cork tree, you will need a glue gun, a foam tree form, and enough corks to cover it. Use a sharp pair of scissors or a utility knife to cut your corks in half. Place a single cork with some glue on the foam insert, starting from the top around the point and working downward, layering the pieces of cork as you go. After the corks have dried in place, you can customize the tree by gluing on additional accents with ribbon, holiday picks, ornaments, and other details. Since foam trees come in a variety of sizes, you can do this project on any scale, including large trees if you have a substantial collection of corks. You can also supplement what you have for larger projects with wine bottle corks in bulk available from Amazon.

This cool project can be modified and done for many holiday pieces, including wreaths and garlands. For a wreath, use a foam wreath form and some toothpicks to create a beautiful burlap and cork wreath for your door. Or string together corks attached with push pins to a ribbon for an easy garland to add some rustic charm to your tree.
