Ditch Overpriced Designer Throw Blankets & Pillows And Opt For These 10 Smarter Alternatives

High-end luxury fashion brands have discovered a market for home goods with a designer label. Unless you're trying to impress guests who may or may not know one designer brand from another, it's really hard to justify spending your money on luxury throw blankets and pillows, especially when you're on a tight budget. There are plenty of alternatives that, while they don't have the designer logos, are still just as cozy to curl up with. After all, when you strip off the logos, aren't blankets and pillows more or less the same anyway?

Luxury designers like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci have been staples in the fashion industry for decades. As they've grown, they have transitioned to include homewares in their lineup, which also come with their usual luxury price tags. For the most part, however, it's not the quality of the product but the branding and prestige that people pay for. And we get it. Having a designer cashmere throw blanket is nice, but it's not the best option for your (or our) budget.

Whether you're dazzled by luxury designer products or not, we've found several fluffy throw pillows and cozy throw blankets that will look good in every room of your home. They're affordable, fit an array of budgets, and can offer a similar construction to the designer options, making it hard to tell them apart.

Williams Sonoma Cashmere & Wool Equestrian Throw

Hermes is known for its timeless and elegant designs, making it a covetable high-end designer brand. If you have your heart set on the brand's Avalon Throw Blanket, it will set you back over $1,800. It's made from merino wool and cashmere, but you're primarily paying for the Hermes brand. You can get a cashmere blend blanket at Williams Sonoma for a fraction of the price. Although the Williams Sonoma Cashmere & Wool Equestrian Throw doesn't have the same branding, it's made of a similar fabric blend, is roughly the same size, and costs almost $1,500 less.

CB2 Patterned Throw Blanket

The Fendi FF Blanket features the brand's monogram in an eye-catching, geometric design and is constructed from wool and cashmere jacquard twill. As much as we adore Fendi and its products, a $2,000 blanket isn't exactly accessible to most people. A more affordable alternative is the CB2 Check Tobacco Brown Merino Wool Throw Blanket. Besides the almost $1,800 price difference, the 100% premium wool blanket has a similar checkered tobacco brown pattern and a lightweight drape, which makes it a great accent to toss onto your bed or couch. Plus, it looks way more expensive than it is.

Pottery Barn Sweater Weather Boucle Faux Fur Throw

The Italian-made Gucci Wool Boucle Blanket boasts the House's recognizable all-over logo. Although Pottery Barn's Sweater Weather Boucle Faux Fur Throw doesn't come with any visible branding, it is made from a similar boucle material that'll certainly help keep you warm and snuggly on those cold days. Both blankets are lightweight, have roughly the same dimensions, and come in the same dark gray colorway. Pair Pottery Barn's blanket with a few matching Boucle Pillow covers, and you'll be left with a whole set that costs over $1,000 less than a single throw from Gucci.

    Etsy Decorative Cushion

Missoni is famous for its vibrant, colorful zigzag and chevron patterns, and the Andamane Chevron Jacquard Pillow, made of woven jacquard, easily captures the brand's essence. We're pretty confident, however, that Missoni doesn't have a patent on zigzags, which is why it's easy to find a cheaper alternative. If you head over to Etsy, you'll find an array of sellers offering similar pillow covers. We're stuck on this Italian-made Decorative Cushion that screams "Missoni" but costs significantly less. It's handmade and features the same zigzag pattern on the front and back.

CB2 Shift Black and White Merino Wool Reversible Throw Blanket

Absolutely nobody does luxury like Louis Vuitton, and their minimalist Monogram Shadow Blanket is another example of a lush blend of wool and cashmere. But when you don't want to wreck your budget just to wrap yourself up in luxury, we found a much cheaper and equally warm alternative at CB2. The 100% merino wool Shift Reversible Throw Blanket features impressive oversized rectangular patterns on the front. The back has the same pattern but in reverse colors, so you're basically getting two different looks in one throw blanket.

Nordstrom Plaid Wool & Cashmere Throw Blanket

Perhaps the most recognizable pattern for anyone in love with classic British style, the Burberry Check Wool Cashmere Blanket is made of a wool and cashmere blend that oozes sophistication. While it doesn't have the exact same iconic tartan-check pattern, Nordstrom's Plaid Wool & Cashmere Throw Blanket is still a lovely alternative for just under $150. It has a wool and cashmere construction that comes in two pretty shade options: gray and tan. The fringe adds to its scarf-like profile that promises to keep you warm wherever you lounge.

Williams Sonoma 100% European Cashmere Throw Blanket

Williams Sonoma is a store that knows how to do affordable luxury well. Their 100% European Cashmere Throw Blanket is a formidable alternative that can give the Dior Oblique Blanket, which boasts hand-fringed edges, the iconic Dior logo, and a cashmere construction, a run for its money. While the Williams Sonoma option is by no means cheap, it's a well-made alternative that could still save you over $1,800. Some might find the solid color too simple and on the boring side, but we think it exudes the elements of the quiet luxury design trend.

Crate & Barrel Avalanche Ink Black Brushed Mohair Throw Pillow

The Crate & Barrel Avalanche Ink Black Brushed Mohair Throw Pillow can bring rustic vibes to any couch or bed no matter how you arrange your throw pillows, not unlike the much more expensive Loewe Cushion in Alpaca and Wool Blend. Both have a multicolored marble pattern on the front, except Crate & Barrel's has the same pattern on the back. There's a leather Loewe patch on the less colorful back side of the designer pillow, but that's a pretty big price difference for a logo no one sees until they flip the item around.

Pottery Barn Fireside Cozy Sherpa Reversible Throw

Popular for its oversized branding, the Balenciaga Allover Logo Blanket isn't made from the same fancy-schmancy cashmere or wool as other designer throws. It has a faux-fur, fluffy feel and a brand logo constructed from acrylic and polyester. Although it's made in Italy, you don't have to travel far to find a less expensive alternative — minus the all-over text, of course. Pottery Barn's Fireside Cozy Sherpa Reversible Throw lives up to its name, with two sides that sport double the potential in the softest fabric. You can even add a monogram for a touch of personalization.

              Cable-knit throw blanket

Bottega Veneta's Intrecciato Blanket has a bit of swagger. The braided pattern, calfskin leather patch, and touch of red detailing combine to create a stunning, classic piece that could work with plenty of different aesthetics. It also, unfortunately, costs over $2,600. The materials used might not be your primary reason for skipping the blanket, but we've found one that's both animal-friendly and cheaper. The Boll & Branch Chunky Cable Knit Throw Blanket has a similar texture, a cozy loose drape, and a touch of the same understated luxury as the Bottega Veneta option.
