DIY A Charming Note And Photo Board With A Dollar Tree Frame

Paper mementos, be they letters, cards, notes, or concert tickets, can often prove unruly to organize and keep track of. While you can always buy a conventional cork board to hold and display them, plain and basic cork boards do not always fit the aesthetic of your office or other space. If too full, they can look cluttered, messy, and uninspiring. To create a stunning memento board that keeps photos and notes organized while looking perfectly stylish in any room, create your own using an inexpensive frame from Dollar Tree. Even better, you can make this cute board for well under $10, presenting a much cheaper alternative to store-bought memo boards and other cork board ideas. 

To make it, you will need an 8x10 or larger frame, some pretty ribbon, a hot glue gun, and some floral picks or greenery for decorating the outside of the frame. You will also need a small drill bit to add the flowers and some acrylic paint or spray paint in your desired shade. You can also create this project with larger frames from discount or thrift stores for an even bigger board. Once finished, your mementos will hang on the ribbon that zigzags inside the beautifully decorated frame.

Begin by removing the glass and inside materials of your frame, which you will not need for this project. Sand the surface gently before painting, which will smooth any rough seams and help the paint adhere. You will likely need a couple of coats to get full coverage. You could also wrap the frame in fabric secured with spray adhesive or use a peel and stick paper to add patterns. Use a ribbon cut into equal-length segments to hang your notes and photos. Organize them in a zigzag pattern for an eclectic and whimsical look, gluing each end of the ribbon in place on the back of the frame.

To customize your frame board, add decorative accents with a glue gun, like faux flowers and greenery. To add faux flowers, drill small holes where you'd like to place them and add some glue to the stems to secure them, gluing additional greenery and leaves around them. To use your memento board after it dries, just add some mini paper clips to secure mementos to the ribbon. 

Hang the memo board above your desk or next to the fridge to post notes and reminders. You can also use a large frame in some festive colored ribbons and accents to make a cute display board from holiday greeting cards and holiday photos.
