How To DIY Flameless Candles For Holiday Decor You Wouldn't Know Was From Dollar Tree

The perfect holiday decor can turn any room in your house into a cozy, festive space you'll never want to leave. Luckily, you don't need to spend a whole lot of cash to give your home some festive cheer, as Dollar Tree is a treasure trove of opportunities. You can DIY jumbo-sized Christmas bells, make chic tablescapes, or craft cozy Christmas decor using everyday supplies like dusters, string lights, and even spare rolls of toilet paper.

And because all cozy holiday homes require candles, one of our favorite seasonal DIYs involves using a few simple items to craft festive flameless candles no one will ever guess came from Dollar Tree. For this quick project, all you'll need are clear glass cylinder vases, white styrofoam disks from the crafting aisle, battery-operated tealight candles and fairy lights, and a hot glue gun. By just melting hot glue over the glass vase and popping on a tea light, you'll have created your own beautiful holiday candle. Perhaps the best news is that it costs under $10 to create two gorgeous candles and — bonus — they also make a great gift.

How to DIY a set of chic flameless candles for under $10

This fun Dollar Tree DIY is all about decorating for Christmas on a budget. First shared on Instagram by Kendra Davis, this project requires just a couple of steps and a few simple materials. Start by measuring the diameter of your tealight candle and cut a corresponding circle in the middle of the styrofoam disk so the candle can fit snugly inside. Flip the glass vase upside down and, using hot glue, attach the styrofoam disk to its bottom. Next, have some fun and add layer upon layer of hot glue in a dripping pattern all around the styrofoam and top of the vase, creating a melted wax effect.

Once you're happy with how it looks, superglue the candle inside the styrofoam and add some more glue on top to keep the effect going. If you're planning to use these candles outdoors, swap the battery-operated tealights for a waterproof, solar-powered alternative, like the Homemory Solar Tea Lights. Finally, wrap the vase in fairy lights and voila!

These beauties will look great in any room, whether lining your mantel or clustered together and wrapped in a faux wreath or tree trimmings to create a beautiful dining room centerpiece. Alternatively, pop them into lanterns to line your staircase (inside or out!) or cut a snow roll (the JOYIN Christmas Snow Blanket Roll is a good option) to size to cover your window ledge and arrange the candles on top, adding pine cones or poinsettias for a gorgeous window display.
