It is an extremely durable substance, meant to sustain the everyday wear and tear that your usual metal fixtures encounter. It works on almost any surface, whether it's ceramic, wood, metal, or plastic. There are nine different colors of Rub 'n Buff to choose from with five shades of gold, including Autumn, Antique, Grecian, European, and Gold Leaf. Other shades include Pewter, Silver Leaf, Ebony, and Spanish Copper. With such a wide variety of colors, you can easily bring a bit of luster to any home project. As the name suggests, all it takes is a quick rub and buff to giving your space a shimmer like no other.
Using Rub n' Buff
Applying Rub 'n Buff is actually quite simple, and doesn't take up too much of your time. Because you're not working with a paint, you won't need to do any priming of your surface before you get cracking. However, it is recommended that you sand the surface before you start working the wax in order to provide something for the pigments to grip. Before you open your container of Rub 'n Buff, you should probably slap on a pair of gloves. It is, after all, known for its durability, and you don't want to be showing off your new project with stained fingertips.
Now that your hands are gloved up, you can start by dabbing a little bit of the wax on a soft cloth. Rub it on whatever surface you're DIY-ing and let it dry for around 30 seconds. Use the dry side of your soft cloth over the wax to give it a good shine — the "buff" stage of the project. You can continue to add coats of Rub 'n Buff to your project as you see fit, but one pass tends to do the trick. With such versatility, it may be hard to choose a project to kick off your Rub 'n Buff journey. But one thing is for certain, you can easily give any at-home project the perfect metallic accent with Rub 'n Buff, whether you're looking for a warm golden tone or a striking silver shimmer.
