The Space-Saving Folding Trick That Will Change The Way You Store Dresses
Storing clothes can be a hassle if you have limited space to work with. Whether the lack of space is due to a small closet, a large collection of clothes, or both, it could prevent you from keeping your home clean and organized. If you are facing this common clothing-storage problem, consider solving it with space-saving folding techniques. There is one folding trick in particular that's perfect to use to neatly store any dresses you may own. All you have to do is lay the dress down flat and follow a few simple steps to get it packed into the shape of a small rectangle that could easily be stored in a drawer or storage bin.
This will allow you to free up closet storage space for items that cannot be folded and placed elsewhere, such as coats or bulky jackets. If you are still struggling with limited closet space even after using this hack, feel free to use similar techniques on additional foldable pieces in your closet. Folding and storing away T-shirts, pajamas, and any other clothes made of thin materials will help you clear out even more space.
How to fold your dresses to save space
Instagram user @thefoldingtips showed the perfect way to pull of this trick. As you can see, you will need to start out by laying the dress down on a flat surface. Next, fold the top half of the dress forward, fold the sleeves inward (if applicable), and fold the outsides of the dress inward multiple times until both sides meet in the middle. Finally, fold the top of the dress forward. This should form a pocket like the one shown in the video. Your final step is to fold the bottom of the dress into the pocket you created.
If you do not already have a place in mind to store your folded dresses, you might want to consider investing in some storage bins for this. You may have noticed that the video features a storage bin that is the perfect size to hold the folded dresses. KWLET's Medium Storage Basket is a similar size and shape to the bin shown in the video, so it's a great option to store your dresses. If you plan to fold additional clothing items to save space, consider purchasing a few of those bins to use as storage. Once you have filled in the bins, you can place them on the top shelf of a closet, on top of a dresser, or anywhere else that works for your space.
