An Unexpected Way To Repurpose A Toolbox For Clutter-Free Bathroom Counters
Toolboxes may seem like they only have one purpose in your home — storing tools — but this is far from true. There are many creative ways to repurpose an old toolbox around your home. Use your toolbox in the bathroom for an easy way to organize your hygiene products, makeup, or jewelry. Simply grab a toolbox to get started!
TikTok creator @nakita_87 shows how easy it is to repurpose a toolbox for your bathroom. This creator added their makeup to the Kobalt toolbox, but you could also use a similar box and add hygiene products or jewelry to the drawers too. You can designate each drawer for a different type of item. For instance, put earrings in one drawer and necklaces in the next. Or, if you share the bathroom with others, you can split the drawers based on the person. No matter what items you choose to store, a toolbox will certainly come in handy.
How to personalize your storage toolbox
Don't want to purchase a new toolbox? No problem! Upcycling an old toolbox can be a great DIY project, especially if you have a box with vintage look. Before you add your new organization system to the bathroom, take a few moments to personalize your toolbox. Sand any rough edges of the used toolbox. Coat the surface with a bonding agent to allow the paint to stick properly. Then, paint the box your favorite color or something to match your decor. Once the base color is dry, you can always use stencils, stickers, transfers, or washi tape to add an extra decorative flair. Finally, seal your design with a matte polycrylic sealer or top coat.
If your toolbox doesn't have drawers, it can still be useful! Use a lid toolbox like you would another caddy. And, if you want extra organization, use this genius food bag folding trick to add storage boxes or create some dividers. Your bathroom is on its way to being more organized.
