Stop Tossing Old Drink Koozies. Turn Them Into A Nifty Home Storage Solution Instead

Do you ever go to open the (dreaded) junk drawer in your home and be greeted by a jumble of koozies that you swear you will put to use one day? Instead, they just accumulate after every event that hands them out for free, and while one or two might come in handy (pun intended) for keeping your drink crisp, chances are they don't get nearly enough use to justify keeping them. Whichever the case, if you have some spare ones lying around, why not put them to good use and create some simple storage that will tidy up both your extra drink covers and those annoying cords you don't know how to organize? All you have to do is trim away a little of the fabric and turn your old koozies into a wrap that tidies up your wires and cables!

The great thing about koozies is their thicker, sturdier material that was made to keep drinks cool can also serve a variety of other purposes (surprisingly), like pot holders, spigot covers for winter, and, obviously, cord holders. If you want to upgrade old or faded koozies before using them as storage, why not add a little fabric paint or dye them first? Let them dry fully, and then you can create your storage, and they will have a more aesthetically pleasing finish! While this is only one of many easy hacks to organize your cords and chargers, it might become your go-to, and it helps recycle old items, too!

Turn your koozie into a cord holder

To create simple but effective storage with your old koozies, start by trimming the bottom off your material (the portion that keeps your drink from falling through). You can throw this away, or you can save it to help move furniture so that it doesn't scratch the floor! Next, you just want to feed your cables, wires, and cords through the koozie ring you have created. Keep in mind that it helps to wrap or bundle the wires up so they slot into the cylinder more easily.

You can actually hold multiple cords in one koozie, depending on the thickness of both the cords and koozies. For smaller bundles, you want to wrap your cable multiple times so it doesn't fall through. You can even secure each bundle or wrap with an added rubber band to keep them from unraveling (which ironically will keep them from tangling in the drawer). If you want to use another rubber band to tighten the koozie around your cords, just add it around the outside once or twice to give you a more grippy holder! The stretchy, soft material even works to store thick, long extension cords so you don't have to deal with a mess whenever you take them out or put them away, or you can place one around your TV wires to hide them and help keep them tidy.
